Baby #3

[identity profile] kimikokai.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
We have both a boy and a girl now and are expecting baby number 3 in July.

Our boy is Alexander "Xander".
Our girl is Kiera.

We don't know if it's a boy or girl yet but we've tried to have both names picked out just in case. . .

We've pretty much decided on a girl name but the boy name is really proving to be a challenge. This baby almost needs to be a girl just because we have no boy name! There are so many things to consider with a 3rd baby!

I want to make sure that the three sound good as a sibset.
If it's a boy it needs to match Alexander in class, but Xander in originality.
The name (or nickname) should have 2 syllables

For a girl we've pretty much decided on Kamber. I also like Kemma but we have a little cousin named Emma. Hubby likes Kamber better anyways.

I'll post the boy names we've both agreed on, but none of them are really just perfect. And they don't match all of the criteria that we've set up for them.

We like:
Nathaniel "Nate"
Gabriel "Gabe"
Gavin
Elijah
Harrison

We also like Royston - but I have an uncle, a cousin and a second cousin all named Royce.

I'm going crazy trying to come up with a boy name!

Xander isn't too original, sorry to say. It was #278/1000 in 2007 for boys.

What about Christopher "Topher"?

Kamber sounds quite made-up.

Pretty sure Kamber was made up. And most people are going to think that when they hear it.

If you try and google search it all you get is last names and if you search for it anywhere on any babyname sites it never comes up. So it's in use as an uncommon last name. If anything, the person in the doctor's office either made it up or named the baby after someone.

I'd use Kimber instead but that's just me.

I found it on a couple baby name sites.

Er, well, not be offensive, but I really don't think Kamber is a good name. It seems made up IMO, and it rhymes wayy too much with Alexander/Xander. I don't want to diss your personal taste or anything, but honestly, eh:[. And Xander might feel a bit left out having a name that starts with "A" while both his sister's have names that start with "K"
If the first reason and the last don't convince you, the second really has too. Kamber and Xander, really, they rhyme a lot.

Andd, I really like the names Gavin, Harrison, and Royston if it's a boy. Royston isn't that much like Royce.
I love Royston.

Beckett with the nn Beck is the first thing to come to mind. Other suggestions:

Elias nn Eli
Braxton nn Brax
Callum nn Cal
Malachi nn Mal or Chi
Mathias nn Matt
Nicolas/Nicholai nn Nico

I like all your boy names, but I think Gabriel/Gabe fits best (though I like Gavin best).

I like Kamber with Kiera much better than Kemma. Also, Kemma is making me think of Gemma and chemistry.

Apparently, I'm expecting a small zombie rather than a human, because my baby has eaten my brain, making it impossible to think of any other names at the moment. Which is too bad, because I like your naming style and would like to be useful. I'll come back when I have two brain cells to rub together.

Okay, I've thought of a couple names, but only for girls. Similar to Kamber (which, spelled with a C, means the angle wheels are set at), what about Ember?

You mentioned below that you like Zachary. I knew a little girl (she's probably 12 or 13 now) named...okay, I can't remember how she spelled it, but it was a lot like Zachary (Zachari, maybe), but pronounced zeh-CAHR-ee. She went be Cari (CAHR-ee) for short.

My powers of concentration are what're shot, for me. I can't deal poker, meditate, or read anything but the lightest of light (and preferably smutty) fiction.

And yes, I realize you weren't asking about girl names, but I'm still drawing a blank for boy names and thought I'd toss those in.

I don't like the girls names... but I'm girl picky (which is why I only have one girl name picked out... lol)

As for boys I loove Nathaniel (nate) and I love Zachary (Zach) (which was not on your list)... but I do also like two of the names suggested above mine.. Elias and Nicholai.

ahh I love Zach so much! lol.

Elisabeth Katherine NN Izzy after my grandmother (who's nickname was sadly Bessie... which I just can't do to my little one.. hehe)

My grandmother's actual NAME was Bessie.

She hated it so much she never used it. She graduated form high school as B. Norma Sicard and was buried Norma Varney. She got rid of it completely as soon as she could, lol.

Forgot to mention a possible Kamber alt..Cambria/Kambria. Its uncommon and Kamber can be a nn. (I have a cousin named Amber...nothing wrong with the name, but she killed it for me)

I agree with this comment.
My daughter is Cambria and we call her Camberlise sometimes because her middle name is Elise.

yeah, i like cambria a lot better.
kamber just sounds like amber with a k thrown in front..which i guess technically it is.

I like Nathaniel and Gaberiel.

Other ideas:
Nikolai, Ozymandias nn Oz, Ezekial nn Zeke, Hawthorne, Heathcliff, Keziah

For some strange reason, my brain was expecting each of your name suggestions to have a possible corresponding nickname, and it decided that the best nickname for Hawthorne would be Hawt. I wish my brain wasn't so creepy.

I really don't think Kamber is that bad of a name. I've seen alot worse ones on here then that.

Boys names:

Clayton
Thaddeous
Paxton
Brennan
Rowan

I really like Kamber! And it does go well with Alexander and Kiera in my eyes. It's cute.

Anyhow, I'm not sure about boy names. Boy names .. are harder than girl names to me.

But I like Gabriel (my cousin's name!) and Elijah. :)

What about Elias? I like that too.

IAWTC 110%.

and I enjoy these same boys names.

Gavin was my top choice for my first daughter if she'd been a boy but it has become way too popular IMO.

I really don't have any suggestions as to a name, but we too couldn't come up with a boys name for baby #3. Luckily when the baby finally revealed what it was at 30 weeks, it was a girl:)

Jude could also be a nickname for Julian.

I really like Gabriel "Gabe" and Harrison.

I love Nathaniel, Elijah & Harrison, such pretty names! =) And You could get really good nicknames out of those, too.
As for other suggestions:

Tobias; 'Toby'
Christopher; 'Topher' (Chris is less original...and doesn't have two syllables ;))
Leonard; 'Leo'
Giovanni; 'Gio' (might be a bit too out there, but who knows =))

Harder than I thought! If I think of any other ones, I'll comment again. Good luck!

i think that Alexander, Keira, and Nathaniel make an excellent sib-set... so does Elijah and Gabriel!

i'm not a big fan of Kamber, though, honestly. Kimber isn't bad, nor is Amber, just not smooshed together lol. but, if you and the hubby like it, that is what matters!

also, other suggestions:

Oliver (Ollie)
Christopher (Chris, Topher)
Gregory (Greg, Rory)
Pierce
Asher
Ashton
Maurice (Reece)
Julian (Jules, Jude)
William (Will, Liam, Bill)
Jackson (Jack)
Kingston
Brennan
Beckett (Beck)
Breckin (Breck)

i dont like kamber, it just sounds like amber with a k in front to be kreeatyv.

that said, i really like most of your boys names! :)

i prefer nathaniel, gabriel, elijah and harrison. i think gabriel sounds best with keira and xander. as for suggestions... how about ezekiel? or finley/finnegan?

Kamber is way cute! I can just see myself hugging the crap out of a little girl named Kamber. It's a huggable name.

And I like all those boys names. What are the names of your boy and girl?
