Forgot to ask in my last post...what do you think of Annalise? My husband is set on naming this baby Annalise if she is a girl and I told him that he could name this baby so long as I don't despise the name. Most people I've told either love or don't like it too much. We would call her Anna most of the time and I do really like Anna. So what do you think?

I love it. And I love the nickname Anna.

Possible alternatives, if you're not in love with the name Annalise:

Annika
Annabelle

I really like it- but Annalise isn't spelt correctly, it should be Anneliese.

Though, my favourite name in that genre is Annabel.

My daughter's name was supposed to be Anneliessa. My fiance and I bickered over names for what felt like forever, and finally agreed on that one. Then I caught crap from my family on how it's hard to pronounce and spell, and a friend who's named Analisha admitted that she's always had trouble with people mis-pronouncing and misspelling her name. She goes by Lily to avoid it altogether. So, in my 8th month of pregnancy, I told him we had to change the name. He went through the roof.

I still love it, though, and just may want to use it on baby #2.

I don't particularly like it or hate it. I prefer names like Elisa, Anisa, Anna, Anne, Lisa, etc.

It's not a bad name though, just nms.

:)

I think Annalise is really pretty sounding. Not crazy about nicknaming her Anna because to me, it kind of takes away from the prettiness of Annalise. That and I just generally don't like nicknames.

i know a girl named anneleise, i've always liked it. she spells it differently, as you see, but i like the pronunciation regardless.

I prefer the "lise" bit spelled "liese", but I like the name a lot. I like that she can go by Lise/Lisa or similar if she wants a change when she's older, too.

I like Anna, but I don't like Annalise. I always read it as "anal ease".

I'm glad the OP likes the Anna spelling because Analise says anal, and that bothers me so much.

I used to like Lana too until a naming book pointed out that it was Anal backwards.

Heh. In Turkey "Anil" is a really popular guy's name. No one understood why I thought it was so funny.

Yeah, I like the Annalise spelling much better than Analiese.

I never noticed that Lana was anal backwards!

lol anal.

I don't like. Makes me think of "analyst" or "Aunt Elise".

I do, however, really like Annika, as someone else mentioned.

I had a little girl in my toddler class named Annelise, that's the only spelling I know.

I LOVE it... preferably spelled Anneliese but it's a great name. I love the nn Lise :)

Oh. and I don't like the nn Anna because my ex-manager was called Anna and I hated her... hehe.

I really don't like the name Annalise, personally.

I also don't like the nickname Anna, because my friend's real name is Arieanna, and she is called Anna. But it's AH-nah, not AN-nah.. I don't know if that comes across well, lol.

I have trouble not seeing "Anal" in there, even with the extra n.

Annemarie?

Annalise is a cute name, but whenever I say it, it always sounds like
"Anna lies" to me, and that might be a teasing factor.

Anneke (ahn-ee-kay) is a nice nickname to consider.

I like it a lot. Anna is a great name, and Annalise is very pretty, unusual without being "weird."

it looks like a spelling error to me, should be anneliese. (and coming from german, that's REALLY old-fashioned... like a granny name in that context. doesn't apply in the u.s. though, i guess)
