spelling question

Hi all! I hope everyone had (or is having) a nice holiday!

Lately i have been very into the name Cameron for a GIRL - but i feel like that spelling is more manly.

Im not a huge fan of the yoonek spellings but wanted some other options -

so do you prefer:

Cameran
or
Camryn

or should i just stick with Cameron and suck it up

THANKS!

Please, please just stick with Cameron. Please.

The alternatives suggestions look wrong and mildly silly.

Suck it up and stick with Cameron :)

I say suck it up.

It kind of irritates me how it's always the girls who get the dumbed up spellings and boys get the tradition more intelligent looking spellings.

Or find a name that is less manly in the first place...

The first one looks like it'd be pronounced Ca-mer-an -- three syllables. I don't like.

The second one... I don't get why people always try to stick y's into names to make them look more girly. It just makes me think of the car. (Toyota Camry.)

I say suck it up.

heh funny you should say this...a girl i went to high school with actually named her daughter Camry-and yes, she named her after the car!!

[identity profile] composure.livejournal.com 2005-12-28 07:30 am (UTC)(link)
That's horrible. My cousin named his daughter Lexus after the car as well.

Mercedes is a legit Hispanic name.

I wish everyone realized this before saying "omg Mercedes what a lame name!" Same with Portia.

as one of my fav names (named my 9 month old kitten i adopted from the pound) i would just suck it up.
i cant imagine seeing Cameron spelt any other way

Camren? Kind of like Carmen... Oddly. Or Karen. Why not Karen? It is similar to Cameron in sound and letters... And it's a girl name. Caren isn't a horrible alternate spelling, either. If Cameron it is, I'd just stick with traditional.

i really despise the whole unique spelling trend, but i dont mind cameran with an a, as an alternative. but thats one of my least favorite names, so i guess i should just be quiet. :)

I don't usually like yooneek spellings but I actually like Camryn. It's the name of an actress on the soap I watch, Camryn Grimes, so maybe that's why I warmed to it. I think it's cute.

ive seen it for a girl spelled Kameron..

[identity profile] pfratz.livejournal.com 2005-12-27 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Better yet, find a girls name you like. It's irritating (as a mother of two boys) to find that more and more good boy names are being hijacked by the girls. It's hard enough to find a decent boys name w/out them being stolen by the girls. :/ JMO

Every girl I've known with that name spelt it Cameran.

I don't like Cameron on a girl. Some alternative suggestions:

Carmen, Karen, Karmen

i babysat for a little girl named Cameron Victoria so the middle name girled it up
but i like Camryn

[identity profile] ilovehounds.livejournal.com 2005-12-28 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
either stick with cameron or use camryn. cameran looks like you're shooting for an alternative pronunciation.

I have a friend named Kameron and she goes by Kami for short.

Camryn

[identity profile] quiet-recluse.livejournal.com 2005-12-29 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Just plain Kami as a name would be nice.
