I love Sofia (although I prefer it as Sophia), but I'm not a fan of Beatrice ... too many associations with Dante, for me, and with Sofia as a first name that just reinforces those associations even more.
It's more personal associations than ones anyone else would make hehe, but it's enough that I couldn't use those two names together. In a class I took a couple years ago, one of the texts we had to read was Dante's Divine Comedy, but a lot of the other texts that year were philosophy-related, and a lot of them talked about wisdom (sofia).
Victoria and Alexandra are two of my favourite names ever ... I think Sofia Alexandra sounds a bit better than Sofia Victoria, but they're both gorgeous.
when my mother gave me my name, it was a extremely rare in my country, no one understood her. Well, it has made "top 5 most popular names list" in the last 5 years...
I love Beatrice, a lot. I agree that it might get pretty popular. I think Sophia Beatrice sounds lovely! (I have to add that I like Beatrix better than Beatrice. :)
I love both names, so you're knocking on an open door with me :P I actually like Beatrice Sophia a bit better, but either way it's a great name! I love revived old-fashioned names!

Date: 2008-02-21 03:58 pm (UTC)sorry, i am not very much familiar with Dante, but i found this

:)
My mom is insisting on "Beatrice" because of the name's meaning.. i like it too, but not so sure.
Other middle name options are Victoria, Emilia, or Alexandra.
ps. We are Slavic, thus the preoccupation with names ending with "a" or "ia" :)
