What do you think of Rory for a boy?

Is it better as Rory or Ruari? Ruari is the more traditional gaelic way.

Rory for the win!! It is one of my all time favorite names for a boy.
I prefer Rory to Ruari, frankly I don't know if I would know how to pronounce Ruari unless I knew what it was already.
Also, I have been hearing a lot of negetive feedback on Rory for a guy because suddenly it is a hip trendy name for a girl, but I say bollox that that--I refuse to let a good (masculine!) name be corruped by Girlmore Girls. :)

i like rory, but i always feel really awkward saying it..it's almost like a struggle. i think it's because of the double r's. but overall, i like it.

I can't imagine Rory as a girl's name.

I think it comes from Lorelai's nickname on Gilmore Girls.

Actually, I think Rory is her daughter...

She named her daughter after herself so its Rory as a nn for Lorelai.

My brother-in-law's name is Rory. I like it, it's different. I don't like the Ruari spelling though.

I dislike Rory for either sex. Ruari may be more traditional, but it doesn't easily "read" as Rory.

I like Rory so much better than Ruari.

I like it for both boys and girls.

I like names that are spelled the traditional Gaelic way. But I don't really like the name Ruari.

Sorry, I really dislike Rory on either gender, I find it impossible to pronounce :/
I'd go for the original spelling only if you're considering it as a middle name, otherwise the boy's in for a lifetime of "R-U-A-R-I".

Unless you live in Wales of course!

I think it's an ok name, for either gender. I'm with [livejournal.com profile] th3_unicorn when it comes to pronunciation though, it's somehow hard to pronounce.

And I like Rory better than Ruari, since Ruari makes me want to say Roo-ah-ree.

that's a cute name. it you have trouble saying rural then you'll have trouble saying rory.

I prefer Ruari, but pronounced Roo-rie as it's meant to be in the gaelic.
