So we're getting a puppy soon and my husband is the type who wants to give a dog a thing name. I am the type who wants to give a dog a person name.

And now I am trying to find names that fit both of these criteria. So far I've thought of names like Olive and Willow and Daisy.

Any other suggestions? I think I am loving Olive, but I'd like to have a fallback list in case my husband hates Olive.

(It's a girl dog and will be a yellow lab, if that matters to you).

I don't like when dogs have common people names -- I'm kind of with your husband on this one. I wouldn't name a dog Olive -- actually, I hate that name, although considering it's a yellow lab it might be kind of clever. But I'd been kind of weirded out calling my dog Olive.

Willow and Daisy, I like better.

Me and my fiance decided on the two names we're going to give our dogs long ago (Rush and Roxas :D)

I think most of his aversion to people names is that they tend to be more nicknamey, -ie names. Like my childhood dogs were Cassie and Maggie and now my parents have Gabbie and Gracie and he can't stand any of those names. His childhood cat is named Soot.

I really wanted to have a dog named Suzanne, but he is extremely anti-Suzanne.
