So what do you guys think of the name Joaquin? Try not to think of the actor and consider the name itself. At first I didn't like it, but it's growing on me.

I've always wondered, do you pronounce the "J" or not?

I'm not really a fan of it. I just...eh. It's not really my style, I guess, and I feel like it might cause a lot of spelling/pronunciation issues.

I love the actor, but not really the name. It's all right. Nms.

It makes me think of quinoa, which might be a good thing since that's one of my favorite foods.

Joaquin

Lol. It's the "waaah."

I like it, but I had a friend named Joaquin who hated it, which colors my opinion a bit. He changed his name to his middle name: Antonio.

I love that name, but I wouldn't use it just because I think it'd be hard to pronounce if you just SAW it.

I quite like it, but I like the spelling better than the pronunciation.

When I think of the actor I like it. Otherwise I think of the word 'whacking' said in a really stupid voice and I hate it.

Ha, sorry.

I used to be in love with the name Ophelia, until someone said "oh.. like I feel ya? that sounds horrible"

I like it. I read a book with that name before I knew the actor so I pronounced it all wrong. But I like it and don't always associate it with him.

I love the name but my poor husband mispronounces it every time so I am doomed not to be able to use it!

I LOVE IT!

Its one of the few Spanish/Portuguese names I like and I'd really want to honor my dads latino side of the family. Plus I think it goes with my fav boy name Jullian.

It's all right. I prefer it to the similar Joakim.

So strange, I met someone called Joachim the other day. That's the English version of Joakim. I consider myself to be a bit of a name nerd and was most shocked at never having come across it before...

& now you mention it here!

Coincidences like that are fun! It's a very common name in Norway (both Joakim and Joachim) - I've got two cousins named it.

Like it! You might get a lot of people mispronouncing it. If that doesn't drive you batty, then it's all good!

Embarrassingly, I pronounced this name wrong for years as Jonah-quinn. I knew of the actor, but never put the two together. I personally don't like it that much, but it is unusual without being too "out there". Overall I think names like that are great to use, even if I am not particularly fond of them.
