What do you guys think of the name Ivan? We're thinking about using it... Its my grandfather's name. Its also Russian for John, which happens to be ALL the other grandfathers' name. Weird, I know. Anyway... Our last name is Arrington, if that helps at all. Not sure what we would use for a middle name.

If you are excited about the Russian for John.. why not pronounce it the russian way? (Ee-Vaughn).

Eye-van reminds me of my horrible History teacher who told us incorrect facts about Ivan the terrible...

Regardless, I like it if it's pronounced properly (in my mind) Ee-vaughn... but eye-van I don't like.

O-o.. you brought out a rocky and bullwinkle reference?? Wowo, I was being nice about it too...

Regardless, I missed the part where you said your GF was Ivan (eye-van)... I still hate that pronounciation.. but that makes more sense why you'd pull a russian name, then not pronounce it right. Regardless, I think it'd be sweet to honour your GF.

Hurricane Ivan, aka Ivan the Terrible

I'm from the US Gulf Coast, and I can't imagine anyone using that name in a million years. I'm assuming that you don't live anywhere near here, though. Not a bad name in general, and it sounds fine with the last name, too.

I went to school with a guy called Ivan only he pronounced ee-VAHN. He was a great person so I'm fond of the name for that reason. He was Croatian, so I guess that's how they pronounce.

I think Ivan is okay, but I think Ian is better and would work well, too.

Not a big fan of rhyming first and last names, but Ivan isn't bad.

It doesn't. It's not even a slant rhyme.

Anyway, I think it sounds lovely together. Ivan Arrington.

I MUCHMUCHMUCH prefer it pronounced EEE-vaughn. Pronounced the other way its just way too harsh sounding.
