Today I overheard the following conversation.
Man: What's the little one's name?
Mom: Jury
Did I mishear her? Is there a name that sounds like "jury" or do you think she named her kid Jury? Either way, what do you think?
I know Judge is a name. My friend and I joked someone could name their three kids Judge, Jury, and Executioner, but the last one probably wouldn't go over too well. :)

Date: 2008-02-15 01:18 pm (UTC)Juri (also spelled Yuri) is a russian name that is also quite used in Italy.
Here it's pronounced YOU-ree, but I guess if someone were to read Juri in english, and to think a final y might just spice it up, there you go with a Law&Order baby

Spelled 'Юрий' in Russian, and 'Юрій' in Ukrainian, and usually as 'Juri', 'Yuri', 'Jurij', and 'Yuriy' with the latin alphabet.
