I had a daughter in August and would like some feed back.  I named her Serenity. My family has been bugging me a lot lately about what i'm going to do for a nick name. Ahh.. I don't know, I have yet to hear any good suggestions.
Some on the list are Erin, Serin, Ren, Nity.. since her middle name is Cadence, some relatives have just been calling her Cady.

Any other suggestions?

Sera
Ren
Era
Erin
Seri

I think nicknames typically develop by themselves. She'll probably be Cady.

I love Serenity! The only nn I can thing of that hasn't already been suggested is Reni (pn Reenee, like some people pn rene or pn Reny)

I love Ren.

Sera works too. But I also really like Cady.

I like Sera or Cady. Either one. I dislike the other suggestions.

I don't know why people have to have nicknames. My brother Tristan rarely gets called anything other than his full first name. My sister's nickname is a pet name and nothing to do with shortening her name. Give it a while, let your daughter grow up a bit and you'll find the perfect pet name for her or she'll get old enough to find her own :)

Exactly! Thank you! I loathe nicknames (They are fine for other folks, but any name that has a "natural" or common shortened version is off my list) I do have pet names for my girls.

Serenity is a lovely name~why chop it into pieces? If YOU want a nickname for her, I agree, give it some time and your favorite will emerge.

If a five syllable name is a mouthful, why name your child that in the first place? I think it is a bit insulting to think "Well sure your name is Serenity but I CBF saying all of that so I'm going to call you Ren."

Does she have to have a nickname? Just see what you naturally start calling her.

I agree with sandtree about just letting it come natural but I do have one suggestion. I'm a huge dork and I've loved the name Serena since I was little and became a huge fan of Sailor Moon. She has a daughter in the show and names her Rini (ree-nee) so that's the first thing I thought of.

Sara?

Why is having a nickname so important?

I really like Ren as a nickname. Serenity is beautiful. :o)

I would say Sera, but I would also encourage her to embrace having a long & beautiful name. When girls shorten Alexandra to Alex or Jacqueline to Jac/Jackie, it makes me sad.

For some reason I thought Senna.

I would try to find something that has nothing to do with her name, honestly. It's a gorgeous name, shortening it only takes something away in my opinion.

For example- my mother calls me Alicia Pea, my sister Keary Doodle (her name is Kearstyn).. Sometimes just Pea, Doodle.. Leesha, Keary.

It'll develop over time, and people will always call her what they please anyhow, so I wouldn't worry about it.

She's only 6 months old, after all. Don't give her name confusion yet! ;)

I think Ser, Seri, or Sera would come most naturally.
