Hmmm....

There are a lot of names that make me go hmm.....and I am pretty broadminded about names. There is one thing that really gets me though - titles as names. I know it sounds weird since I don't have a problem with "job" names (Thatcher, Archer, etc), but title names irk me. Today I met a boy named Sir Charles Edward (last name). Until recently I had a client named Sir Reece (last name). He went by Sir. I don't think Lady, Countess, or Princess are good names. One of my coworkers has a cousin named Sir Mister (last name). We also had a client named Mister President (last name that rhymed with mister).

Records also show a Sir James, Sir Mack, Sir Dawn, Sir Bryan, Sirdarrius John, Sir Jonathan, Sir Charlton Edward, SirGaren DeMale, Sir George, Sir Gregory, Sir Christian, SirKendrick, Sir Larry,  SirElen Ray, Sir England Dominique, Sir Erok Edwin Dawon Goodwin, Sir Christopher, Sir Jermaih, SirJames, and Sir Melvin James.

Now, most of these names are fine names. James is one of my favorites. The Sir ruins it for me. WDYT?

Ugh!!! title names are HORRIBLE...and a pox on anyone who name's their child sir, or lady, or any other such name! It's cute on a dog (we were looking for a new god, and if we found a boy that we liked he was going to be name Mr. Darcy :P)....but just freaking silly on a kid!

Agreed! I've seen Governor (awful) and Princess. I've never seen anyone named Sir, but that's awful, too.

I know a girl whose first name is "St. Veronica" (St= Saint). Of course in elementary she always just went by Veronica and now that we're like 19, I think she goes by Noni (Haven't talked to her since senior year), but I always though it was horrible of her parents to do that. It wasn't even the full word. Her legal name was "St. Veronica"

Who would name their kid SIR? that's so ridiculous. and the fact that there are so many...it baffles me.

I know of a girl named Precious...it just doesn't make sense to me.

I was kind of horrified when someone explained to me that that's how St. John Rivers' name was pronounced ... I didn't like St. John as a name to begin with, but that just made it a million times worse.

I personally like Sir Erok Edwin Dawon Goodwin best.
Closely followed by Mister President.

Or not. I don't think this is a good idea at all!
I am amazed that there are so many people with the name!
