Everyone has guilty pleasures...the exception to the rule...

What are yours?

Personally, I'd actually use most of the names I like. I know my family has issues with my love of using names I love with no regard to historical gender. Having researched the crap out of the psychology and sociology of names in undergrad and grad school, I know the theories associated with crossgendered names but I must admit that it simply boils down to one thing - if I love it, I love it....regardless of whether there is a penis or a vagina attached. I like Jane and Ashley on boys and James and Joshua on girls and vice versa.

Other guilty pleasures -

Journey
Vrai
Trinity
Shiloh
Leviathan
Fox

My guilty pleasure is Wedge.

What can I say, I'm a huge Star Wars fan. The first time I heard it was in third grade and I never had the wedgie association. To me it was just that guy from the movie.

I've been considering using it as a nickname for Wesley, another favorite usable name.

I think Wedge is a fabulous nickname for Wesley, since I'm also a huge Star Wars fan.

However, I'd spell it Westly, because I'm an even bigger Princess Bride fan.

Ptolemy - #1, I would definitely use it if it weren't so out there
Jean-Baptiste
Ignatius

I guess Theodora could almost be considered a guilty pleasure name as well, since most people seem to hate it, but I would actually use it.

I think a lot of it is that the pronounciation is so incredibly different than the spelling...and I know that no one would ever be able to get it right without being told a couple of times :P Same reason I won't use Gaelic names....there's no way you can just sound them out O_o

I'd use Phineas, Orion, Phoenix, Sirius or Caspian... I don't think those are too out there!

From: [identity profile] bobinwales.livejournal.com
They're not, but I'm a huge Harry Potter geek, so everyone would know the names were from there!
And the BF has already vetoed Caspian!

I eventually took off my list anything that was too out there, so that's the only one. I derived it from Arline, which is my second middle name, in an attempt to make it prettier.

Tallulah I think is my only one. But I'd never actually use it now. It was more like a favorite name in High School.

I would so totally use Fox if I could.

I mean, I might use it as a middle name. As corny as it says, the name has meaning to me. The only thing me and my dad ever did together when I was a kid was watch Star Wars. No lie. That's all we ever did together.

my favourites are:
[Girls]
Penelope
Fiona
Lulla Belle

Laila

[Boys]
