My friend's friends just had a little baby girl. They named her Mia Louise, which I quite like.

The funny part about her name is, her last name is Moore.

Mia Moore.

Mi amor.

I guess it's not that bad, and it definitely could be worse, but they did it on purpose which kind of has me rolling my eyes.

No I think it's because I'm more incline to phonetic differences, as I speak italian (as first language) ;)
so to me O sound is distinct to OO sound, although when pronouncing it, at least in Moore, they do differ slightly. It's more of a formal difference, I guess.

It's the difference between "mow" and "moo", if those were words :P

I understand what you're saying, as there's a very subtle difference when I say them, too, but... ah. I'll be clearer. I pronounce "Mia Moore" and "mi amour" the same way.

Of course... the OP wrote "amor", not "amour", and taking the U away does produce a different sound; if this were French, there would be no "mi" (right? It's been a while). Still my weird accent reads the name itself as if it were pronounced "amour".

Ah, I give up. I think it's cute, which is what matters.
