I like the name Sydney for both men and women. I have known several people in either gender with the name (usually the "yd" spelling) and I just rather like it! :)

I like both Sidney and Sydney , although, not sure which I prefer.

I think Violet would be a cute potential middle name.

I was just thinking about this name the other day. I've never particularly liked it, but the other day, I realized I do now. I prefer Sidney for a boy, Sydney for a girl. Sydney Violet is pretty, but as the city is the first thing that comes to mind with Sydney, that sounds like she's being compared to a flower from Australia. Not that I think there's anything wrong with that, I'm just not a big fan of two nouns together.
