HELP NAME A BABY!
Feb. 4th, 2008 11:08 pmOne of my co-workers is pregnant. If its a girl she gets to name it and if its a boy her husband gets to pick the name. She's stuck trying to find a girl's name and is hoping its a boy:)
So to help I thought I cast the net in this community. Mom and dad are late 20s-early 30s. Mom is a probation officer, dad is in loans/real estate. They are African American but she wants a normal name (no Schnikwa or Princess). Mom is Taye, Dad is Larry (don't know if its short for anything). Last name is Spikes.
These are the names she is considering:
Kylie
Addison
Ellie Nicole
Of the three, I like Addison best, but one of our coworkers just named her daughter Addison Lauren.
So, bring your best!
PS...Mom is real big on the resume/business card test...and she has already refused the name Sharpe.

Of the three, I vote for Addison as well, I guess.

Date: 2008-02-05 05:42 am (UTC)It sounds like she kind of wants something 'cute' for a child, but that works well for the business card test, so I'd suggest ones with a lot of nickname possibilities, but that are really sophisticated sounding themselves:
Elisabeth (Libby, Ellie, Eliza, Lizzie)
Josephine (Joey, Josie, Joss)
Catherine/Katherine (Cate/Kate, Catie/Katie, Cathy/Kathy)
Eleanor (Ellie, Ella, Nora, Elle)
Amelia (Mia, Lia, Amy)
Margaret (Meg, Molly, Maggie)

Date: 2008-02-05 06:03 am (UTC)Ellie to too nickname-ish to stand alone. It's lovely for Eleanor/Elizabeth/other El-/-el names.

Date: 2008-02-06 10:36 am (UTC)Actually... going along that theme, Elle and Lena work, too. Both could be either professional or playful. When I think "Elle" I think of a fashion designer and a girl at a party, and when I think "Lena" I think of an all-business Russian woman and a spunky chick in camo pants.
