[identity profile] chippyjem.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
My name is Kystal, my husnand is Jacob and our son is Jack.  We are starting to TTC #2 (kind of?  long story).  I feel like our next baby should start with a "K" sound.  What do you think about that?  Totally lame or a good idea?

I went onto babynames.com and was horribly disapointed in their "K" and"C" names for boys.  I don't want something popular...Jack is way too popular now, *sigh*.

So far I have "Kirk" for a boy and "Chloe" and "Clementine" for girls.

(When I was pregnant, our chosen names were Edward & Alice...just to give you an idea to our "tastes" in names)

Any comments/name suggestions would be lovely!

Honestly I like both Edward and Alice a lot and if I were you I would go with those names because you already like them, rather than settling on a k or c name just to have a k or c name. You know?

I do like Chloe though. My favourite 'c' name is Cillian.

Also, how cute would brothers named Eddie and Jack be? um..very. =P

That patterning thing is pretty common, I think. My uncle Darren is married to Cindy and they have Dustin and Courtney.

I don't think it's totally lame, but I do love both Edward and Alice. I like Chloe, too, though. Kirk reminds me of Douglas, which I don't like, and I don't like Clementine as much as everyone else seems to.

I like the idea of a K name to balance out, I'd probably be tempted to do the same, if I were in your place :)

I LOVE Kieran for a boy, but I am afraid it will start to get very common in the youngest generations..

Katherine is really pretty imo.

Mmmm...I don't think anyone would make the Jacob-Jack sound connection *unless* you went with a K name for number 2!
Plus, I really really really like Edward and Alice. Jack and Edward or Jack and Alice make a really really cute sib set, where as Jack and Chloe sound too trendy together, imo.
Good luck!

Totally agreed! Matching sibling sets are so trendy, and Jack is on that fine line between trendy and classic. If you go with something trendy (Clementine, Chloe, and pretty much anything that 'matches' would qualify), it's going to sound that way. But if you went with something like Edward or Alice, it would sound really really nice.

(C/K-sound names for boys are hard!)

I think it's a cute idea. It would only be too over-the-top if you were going for another J name -- the alternation of sounds is neat. :) I also love Chloe and Edward (though "Ned" is my favorite NN for Edward).

For a girl my favorite C name is Cadence, and for a boy Cale or Cade.

i don't think you should pick the name of your next child solely based on a letter. no one says it has to start with a k sound. i say..go with the names you picked before if you love them..edward & alice.
