My mum said to me the other day
"uh you cant name my granddaughter that she will be plagued forever... its too old fashioned"

I think it's beautiful, very classic and elegant.

It's definetly being dusted off. Naming trends go in a three generation, so all these 'old fashioned' names are actually very cool.

Claire is just a wonderful name, underused but not outlandish. Definetly works as a very stylish middle name (speaking from experience, as my middle name is Clair).
I'm in the UK and Claire seems to have been quite popular about 20 years ago (I have a cousin and several friends/aquantances named that, and all around that age or younger), so definetly don't think it 'old'.

I'd prefer Claire Matilda, but I see that Claire is your mother's name so I guess that wouldn't work.

I don't *love* Matilda, but I think it's a good choice for someone who does.

I think Matilda sounds like an old lady, but then, I never read the book or saw the movie, so...I just don't care for the sound of it, either. Claire is a nice name though.
