babynamesi discovered an amazing tool to determine the popularity of names we're thinking of for our baby. go to http://www.babynamewizard.com/namevoyager/lnv0105.html and type in the name. results are per million babies. you need java for it to work.
note: if you hit backspace too many times, it closes the applet, and you have to start all over again. that part sucks, but the site is great otherwise.

behindthename.com is also great for stats, that has them for all the last five/ten years, then by decade.
