I posted asking for suggestions for a new name for the dog I was planning to adopt.

While I appreciated all your suggestions (they were great!)...

On the way home, both my co-pilots (boyfriend as well as best friend) had fallen asleep, which left only the poochie and I awake. I was talking to her, in order to get settled down and used to my voice, when I caught myself saying, "And from now on, I promise you'll have a beautiful life."

Thus, her name became "Vita Bella." "Beautiful life" in Italian. While most of the time, she goes simply by "Vita," I think it definitely fits her personality (she's full of life, that's for sure!), as well as her story of hardknocks that has now found a happy ending.

Aw, thank you, but I'm afraid at maximum size, she's hardly going to be a big dog. Right now it looks like she'll top out at about 45-50 lbs or so!

She's a love. It's nice to see people with pit bull-looking dogs...I hate how people just assume they're mean. Most of them are incredibly sweet.

I was actually looking specifically for a bully-dog, as I'm aware they're the least likely to be adopted. A lot of people find it kind of amusing that I have a pibble-type-critter, and I'm not very "street" or anything.

I was raised that there's no such thing as a "mean" or "bad" animal - there are only animals people were mean to, or do not have enough experience to deal with. I've never met a pit I didn't like. They're just so full of "OMGZ TEH PEOPLE! LET ME KISS, PLZ"

Aw, thank you. She's such a doll; I hope she'll at least inspire some of the folks she meets to look at pit bulls as something other than, "OMGZ IT WILL EAT ME AND MAH BEBES!" because she really is an absolute DOLL.

I don't buy into the 'bully breed' stuff; it's a dog's individual temperment and handling which matters. In my experience little dogs (especially terriers) often have worse attitudes than bigger/'scary' dogs.

I absolutely ADORE pit bulls. We had them growing up and they're the sweetest things the world. We had one, Duchess, that looks just like your Vita. A brendel. She was beautiful. We had these neighbors move in next door and we think they poisoned her. *sniffles* We lost her not long after that, as she got sick and died. I think it's horrible for anybody to treat an animal cruelly. But I have a special love in my heart for pit bulls, because they're so stereotyped. Just because there are idiots out there that train them to fight and be mean doesn't mean that's what they're like naturally. They're TRAINED to be that way. And you could train a chihuahua to be mean like that. *shrugs*

I think she's beautiful, and her name is beautiful.
