I've recently fallen in love with the name Katerina (nn Kate), to go with Claire Annabeth. I just can't decide on a middle name. I'd like it to be one syllable.  These are the ones I've come up with so far, but I'm open to suggestions of other one-syllable middle names that might go well with Katerina.[Poll #1129132]

One of my best friends is named Katarina, so I'm used to that spelling, but Katerina's beautiful too. :-) I'm not such a fan of the one syllable middle name trend (I prefer names that are basically two first names, rather than even a hint of "filler-ness" in the middle name), and the first one that came to mind for this one is Katerina Rachel. However, out of the ones you listed, I think Katerina Grace is by far the best.

It could also be a stand-alone name just fine. My friend Katarina doesn't have a middle name.

Well yes...but of the options offered in the poll, I considered it the best. As far as I'm concerned, they're all fillers....

Can you explain to me why "Grace" is a filler name? I like the name Grace a lot and I know its used as a middle name a lot, but in my opinion thats because it sounds good with a lot of names. Its a simple one syllable name that has a sweet meaning, like Claire and Jane, which are also used a lot as middle names. Just because its used a lot doesn't make it filler, in my opinion, because I would use Tzipporah if I thought it sounded better with the first name, just in most cases (to me at least), Grace sounds better. And NONE of my names have any special meaning to me more than Grace does, unless you count that I've liked them for awhile. I don't want to name people after family members or favorite characters in books or movies for the most part...so I don't understand why Grace is so bad, except that its popular, and I don't know why that would matter in a middle name, because if the girl decides to go by it, Grace isn't that popular as a first name so it isn't like she'd be one out of fifty Grace's in her class...
That was really long but I'd really like to hear why some middle names are filler :).

Yes but...I choose ALL middle names because they sound good with the first name. I like the name Grace a lot, and it sounds good with a couple of my favorite names so...I might use it if I ever have kids. I also really like the name Juliet, and I might also use that as a middle name if it sounds good with one of the first names I like. So that means that Juliet would be a filler name in that case, right? So its subjective? I'm really not trying to be argumentative, I really am curious about it :).

I like them all except Katerina Dawn. But I love, love, love Katerina Pearl.
Kate and Claire are nice together, too.

I think Katerina Dawn goes together perfectly. The others are nice but don't have that same oomph for me :)
