So me and my friend love the name Trevin. Her husband says absolutely no way will he ever name his son Trevin, but we're trying to change his mind. Anyway, kind of a different name, WDYT?
No baby on the way, so no big deal yet. He likes one boy name and they already used it on their first son. The only girl names he likes are Kristen and Danielle, which just so happen to be the names of his ex-girlfriends. Yeah... And he doesn't really despise the name. I think he mostly vetos her suggestions just to get her riled up. He thinks it's funny. After kid 15 it won't matter that much anymore i guess.
So... according to one website, (which is not always accurate) Trevin is made up, or invented, rather. But my question is, weren't all names invented at some point? 1000 years ago, was anyone named Madaline? Brandon? And if they were, the name had to come from somewhere. So the argument that invented names are dumb is dumb because all names were invented at one point or another. Right??? Maybe not... makes sense to me though. Oh well. I don't know where my friend got the name... she probably knew someone with that name or read it in a book. i like Trevin more for a middle name. It also sounds like a last name. Anyway...
I get what you're saynig.. but it's generally agreed that names with past history derived from a word are 'real' and a hell of a lot classier. Made up names are of course names to a certain extent.. but they're tacky and not in the same genre.
That's so weird. I have never heard this name before until last night.. when it was one of the kids in the family on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition last night. It's kind of cute, not sure I would use it, but it's a lot better than many more unique names out there :)
:/ not a fan. travis? trevor? devon? kevin? to me, trevin is mispronounciation of trevelyan (sorry, my friend's sean bean fangirlishness has rubbed off on me)
