I really want to name my daughter Katie Ann Michelle. Katie Ann being her first name (KatieAnn doesn't look right at all). Do you have any suggestions for a better middle name?
Also, for a boy's name, I don't really have any favorites, but my boyfriend (we are young to be thinking about kids, but that's not important!) really likes the name Nigel Riley. I can compromise the Nigel, even though it reminds me of some Steve Irwin type guy, but I like the sound of Nigel Walker much better. What do you think?
Thanks. I hadn't posted anything here before, and always meant to ask you all what you thought.

Date: 2008-01-28 12:08 am (UTC)I really like Nigel. And I don't like Riley with it, but it's okay. Nigel Walker is nice, too, but Walker sounds very last-namey. With Riley as a middle name, he could choose to go by that instead of he doesn't like Nigel.

Date: 2008-01-28 12:31 am (UTC)I agree that Walker sounds last namey, but the projected last name (Whitson) would go well with it, IMO. I also like the idea of using the a name from my family as a middle name, but we'll see what happens. My Dad's first name is Richard, but I like his middle name, Joseph, better. The actual family name is Gerald, but I don't like that one bit! Haha.

Date: 2008-01-28 12:35 am (UTC)Katherine would probably be a much better choice. She could still be Katie Ann after your best friend (and I love the idea of names with meaning; I'm planning to use my best friend's name - Adrienne - as a middle name for my daughter), but Katherine would provide a lot more choices as she got older. Katie Ann is more of a nickname to me; it's just too childish to take seriously on an adult.

Date: 2008-01-28 01:04 am (UTC)Here's some ideas with the different combos:
Kate Ann Theresa
Kate Ann Hope
Kate Ann Regina
Kate Ann Tessa
Kate Ann Zoe
Katherine Ann Regan
Katherine Ann Olivia
Katherine Ann Petra
Katherine Ann Elizabeth
Katherine Ann Daphne
Kathleen Ann Ivy
Kathleen Ann Louisa
Kathleen Ann Eleanor
Kathleen Ann Brenna
Kathleen Ann Georgia
And I like Nigel Riley. Nigel Walker sounds odd to me. How about Nigel Willis, Nigel Beckett, Nigel Henry, or Nigel Paul?

Date: 2008-01-28 03:40 am (UTC)I have to say, my name is Katherine, and I go by Kate or Katie 99% of the time, but it REALLY REALLY REALLY helps when I can introduce myself as Katherine at job interviews or to professors. When you are in your early 20s going for a professional job or interview or whatever, it is so nice to have a name that makes you sound older and a little more mature. :)

Date: 2008-01-28 01:26 pm (UTC)I like the flow of Nigel Walker better. Nigel Riley sounds a little strange to me because of the repetitive long i sound. An above poster expressed my sentiments when she said it sounds like a band (but I was thinking indie, rather than cover).
