What do we think of multiple middles?

Currently our boy name is John Scott - but I wanted to add something to it because it's soooo 'white bread' as my mom calls it. I dislike the name all together, but my husband and I made a deal that he will pick the first boy, and I can pick the first girl. Ultimatley, we want three or four - so I can pick the next boy's name and he can pick the next girls name... We are trying to be fair.

Hubby is okay with two middle names, as long as John is always the first.

I was thinking John Scott Aaron. Is that too much?? Or, too little? Does it not flow?

I just love Aaron, and it's my brother's name... But John Aaron doesn't flow at all...

well... they are both white bread so if that is the only reason then i wouldnt give the child more than two names.

Mine has two and I like it... I don't see a problem with anything as far as middle names go, because they're middle names, most people don't use them or know them. If it has meaning, I say go for it.

John Aaron Scott flows better to me. But it still sounds white-bread to me.

I think two middles are fine. My brother and I both have them.
I'm Aubrey Clare Elana
He's Dylan Michael John

On forms where you fill out your middle initial, which one do you use? I've always wondered what one does...

I use both
If it's a form that asks for first and middle and last full names I write them all out. If it just asks for middle initials I put C.E.
I have never had a problem.

Even if there are boxes or bubbles without room to put both? I'm recalling standardized tests in school....

There has always been room to put both initials at least. I dunno. If there wasn't room I guess I would just put my first and last and forgo the middles.

I think John Aaron sounds a lot better than John Scott. John Scott sounds really harsh and abrupt to me. Not a huge fan of the two middle name thing, but that's just personal preference.

If you're doing two middle names, I think John Aaron Scott sounds a million times better.

You guys can't find any name at all that you could compromise on? Yikes.

To dress up John Scott, I'd go for a more interesting middle name, with Scott as the second middle name, like...

John Octavian Scott
John Theodore Scott
John Isaac Scott
John Adrian Scott

John Aaron Scott sounds better, I think, but it's definitely a nice name and I don't think it's a big deal to have more than one middle name. I think 1 is the minimum and 2 is the maximum, but that could just be me. I prefer 2.

I was thinking maybe something with 3 or 4 syllables would work better with John Scott, since it's so short. Maybe John Scott Alexander, or Sebastian, or Nathaniel, or William or something a little longer. But I think Aaron works well, too.

I like John Scott. There are plenty of good nns for John too. I would "save" Aaron as one of the names you get to pick out later. Isn't your last name Hazzard? John Hazzard sounds pretty cool to me - like a superhero. Johnny Hazzard saves the day ;)

I like John, Scott, and Aaron, but if the point is to steer away from "white bread" I'm not sure quantity is the trick!

Normal + normal + normal still = normal, y'know?

But in this case they're all very NICE normal names (I love all three), so if you like them, that's all that matters, I think.

I love multiple middles! I have two middle names myself!

I like John Aaron Scott better than John Scott Aaron, even though I like Scott better than Aaron.

I have four names all together, they are a bit strange but I like having so many. It's quite common in my family.
Like you I'm not a big fan of the name but I think John Aaron flows much better than John Scott Aaron.
Jonathan Scott Aaron however does flow well and you can use John as a nickname.

You have a deal that your husband will pick the first boy and you pick the girl.. and you dislike the name he picks.. thats a little weird to me. Cant you guys compromise on at least a first name?
