What is a good real name for the nickname Jamie for a girl?  I really love the name but I think it sounds too nicknamey to be a real name.  I am not sure I love it enough for a boy though either so, I suppose James for a boy is out, plus my uncle is named James "Jim" and while he's a good guy, I don't really know him enough to name my kid after him.

I dunno I think Jamie can be a stand alone name for a girl, all the Jamie's that I know don't have a longer form, that's just their name.

Jamilah? It may sound too ethnic, I'm not sure. I think just Jamie will work too, though.

All the female Jamies I know are simply Jamie, and I prefer that to any 'full' name for a girl. Most of the formal versions of names are either too masculine (James, Jamison...both of which are boy names) or sound totally made up (Jamesina, etc.)

I definately think that Jamie is a strong enough name on it's own. *nods* I can't think of a single name that would sound better than Jamie.

I know a lot of Jamies, so it doesn't seem nicknamey to me. I also know some girls named Jaime, but I always think that looks like the Spanish boys name.
