Which is considered the "masculine" spelling: Devon or Devin?
I'm writing a story, and it's the male characters name, but I want to make sure I have it spelled the right way

Thanks in advance!

It's a boy's name (although suddenly used on girls in any spelling), so they're both masculine spellings. I would use Devin, though, because Devon looks weird to me. Most Devins I know spell it with an i.

Strange, it is the other way around for me... I've never met a Devin, but I know several Devons (both male and female).

Devin
Mostly because I live fairly near to the Devon [the county]. So while other spellings seem odd in the abstract; seeing Devon all the time would make me think of moors, custard, and such.

I don't think it really makes much diffrence in terms of gender, both are fairly well established as a boys names. Though 'creative spellings' tend to be more 'girly'.

I know a girl and a boy who both spell it with an O. Although, I generally think that Devin is more masculine.

Devon = female
Devin = male

At least in my mind it is.

My sister is a Devon, so it looks girly to me, though some disagree (so many times my mum would have to pick her up from school for a dentist/doctors/whatever appointment and the secretary would call and say "Can you send Devon down, his mother is here..." which is why I try to stay away from those names (my sister now goes by her first middle name)

And that's my tangent for the day ;)

Devin's always seemed more masculine to me.

Devin is masculine, Devon feminine.

I know three Devins...or rather one Devon, one Deven, and one Devin.

Devon is 12/M.

Deven is 21/F.

Devin is 22/M (and beautiful...)

But yeah, generally despite my neighbor being a boy, I think of the O spelling as female and the I spelling as male.

They're both different names.
