Okay.  So after much discussion, stemming from the fact that his brother and sister-in-law had inordinate difficulty in choosing a name for their son (he doesn't have a middle name because they could only agree on [Poll #1125331]

i only chose one from each category because those are the only ones i knew for sure how to pronounce, and i really dislike the name rory because it doesn't roll off the tongue at all. i like names that begin with e so i chose the e spelling for ailis/eilis, and i just think the h at the end makes the name look like more of an adjective than anything.

Myfanwy is the name of the pterodactyl on Torchwood so that is unfortunately all I think of when I see that name.

I really like Ailis, Cillian, Ciaran, and Rory (though, I'd probably use it as a nickname for something and not a name in its own right)!

Is Gráinne pronounced like Grahn-yuh?..like the character in Tristan & Isolde? If so, I think it's really pretty.

And I ADORE Cillian. It's on my list. :) Though I can never decide between spelling it with a C or a K. I know C is more traditional, but I'd be afraid people would pronounce it "Sillian" his whole life. But on the other hand..Killian might look too hard with the "Kill".

Yes, Grahn-yuh.

I couldn't spell it Killian. I have a personal vendetta against the letter K :) Nah, it just doesn't look right with the K. I know (vaguely) a young lad, about ten years old, named Cillian (I babysat him about four years ago), and to my knowledge he's never had issues with the pronunciation.

In the minority but I actually really like the name Myfanwy... I know a really nice woman of that name though so I'm probably a bit biased :P They call her Miff. I think it's cute.

Anthea Violet has to be my favourite of them all though.

I LOVE Rory, Diarmid and Ciáran. I wish I had a valid reaon to use Irish names!

My grandfather's name is Ciaran! And he has a brother Rory and a sister Siobhan.

Anyway, I like both the spellings Ailis/Ailish, but I think the latter would cause less pronunciation problems (since it ends in -ish rather than -is).
I love love Ailis Maeve, but Anthea Violet is pretty too!

I love your taste in names :D I'd spell Ailis - Eilish but that is only because that is how I first heard of the name. I don't think it matters if there are other A names in the family, I'd just spell it how I wanted to.
