I'd never use it, but....

Do you ever hear really pretty names that you'd never concider using? Like on sci-fi shows or in fairy tales - names that are really pretty words, and work in a fantasy reality, but you'd never use on a kid?

I was watching some show, possibly on the sci-fi channel, and there were two characters called Whisper and Chicane. I like them in the abstract, but they just aren't real names, y'know?

Just wondering if anyone ever heard similar made-up type names they wanted to share?

I know what you mean, but I can't think of any of the names like that that I've heard right now, though.

Those are the names I'd remember and name my pets though. :P

Meryn.

It's an interesting name, pretty, but I'm not sure I could use it!

Really?! I've never seen it used before! I do, however, like it...

On the show Roswell, there was a character (an alien) named Vilandra. I think it's a pretty name.

Girls - Rapunzel and Trillian, although...who knows? I might use them on a real person. Or atleast a cat.

Boys - Near. More out of love for the character than the actual sound of the name.

Also, Belldandy.

I love Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, which coincidentally has the nicest names out of all the Star Trek series...
I like both Jadzia and Ezri :)
Tora Ziyal was Dukat's daughter, that's kind of a cool name.

Nyneave and Egwnne. I love them to pieces.

Whisper sounds very romantic.

I always wanted to know from where the name Nyneave is! Can you tell me please??

It's from The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. Same with Egwenne.

I was sad when I read the actual pronounciation of Nyneave. I don't like the Nigh sound in the beginning...

Jayne (Firefly, male)
Zelana (The Dreamers series by David and Leigh Eddings)
Illyra

Oh, and Ehlana.

Cinderella! Call her Cindy!

But I'd never actually do it.

... I don't think.

I used to work with a girl called Cinderella

[identity profile] aquilinum.livejournal.com 2008-01-22 01:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow! Did she go by the whole thing?

[identity profile] kimberpotamus.livejournal.com 2008-01-22 02:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, and she would get so annoyed if you called her Cindy or tried to shorten it in any way

I absolutely adore the name Xavari, which.. honestly.. is a completely made up name. :)

It'd be pronounced like Zavari.

Also I LOVE the name Whisper. I would TOTALLY name my daughter that..
