Pretty much all my favorite names come from books. I fall in love with the characters, which leads to the names...

Matilda (Matilda by Roald Dahl)
Henry and Clare (The Timetraveller's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger)
Lilly and James (Harry Potter)
Dexter (Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay (I think))
Charlotte and Avery (Charlotte's Web by E.B. White)
Ruby (Ruby the Copycat, my fav book when I was little and The Five People You Meet In Heaven by Mitch Albom)
Holden (The Catcher in the Rye by J.D.Salinger)
Harper, Scout, Atticus, Radley (To Kill A Mocking Bird by Harper Lee)
Tala (Also from Mitch Albom's The Five People You Meet In Heaven)
That is just a few.

Pretty much all the names from A Series of Unfortunate Events. Violet, Klaus, Olaf, Beatrice, Bertrand, Fiona, and Friday. Friday is probably my favorite. I even like Lemony.

I like Narcissa, but I'm not sure if I got that from Harry Potter.

I also like Jane from Jane Eyre, and Tobias from Animorphs.

I don't read, and I don't like movies that much, but a lot of names I like come from TV. For instance, I like the names Olivia and Elliot because of Law and Order: SVU.

May, which I'm thinking about using as a middle name, or possibly a first name. I got it from My Neighbour Totoro. It was the favourite movie of myself and my sister when we were kids, and we were almost exactly like the two main characters, Mei and Satsuki. I chose the spelling May, because Satsuki means May, and that's what connects the two girls.

According to my father (my Mum has a different story) I was named after Jordan in the Great Gatsby.

I think Tv/Books etc have a huge impact on me liking names. I want to name my first daughter Abigail Johanna Isobel. I got Abigail Johanna from Days of Our Lives!! Most of the names I love stem from TV.

I'm heavily influenced by literature, movies, plays, television, and music I love, when it comes to names. My list of favorite names is mostly due to books I grew up loving, and a good many of them are from L.M. Montgomery. I have most of her work, and there's a lot to be had, and we seem to have had similar taste in girl names, so she's a big part of my favorites list. Literary influences on my favorite names:

Annabel - "Annabel Lee," Edgar Allan Poe
Becca - Rebecca, Daphne du Maurier--even though Rebecca herself was such a trampy bitch, I realized how much I loved Becca after reading this
Catherine - Catherine, Called Birdy, Karen Cushman
Colin - The Secret Garden, Frances Hodgson Burnett
Damaris - "The Son of His Mother," L.M. Montgomery
Diana - Anne of Green Gables, L.M. Montgomery
Edmund - Mansfield Park, Jane Austen
Edward - Sense and Sensibility, Jane Austen
Eleanor - Sense and Sensibility--I prefer this spelling, but Elinor Dashwood is why I love the name
Emily - Emily of New Moon, L.M. Montgomery
Emma - Emma, Jane Austen
Estella - Great Expectations, Charles Dickens
Fleur - Château of Flowers, Margaret Rome
Ford - Anne's House of Dreams, L.M. Montgomery (although I also love Ford Prefect from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Douglas Adams)
Gilbert - Anne of Green Gables
Hazel - Pat of Silver Bush, L.M. Montgomery
Helen - Wait till Helen Comes, Mary Downing Hahn--although Helen is vengeful ghost, there's something haunting (no pun intended) about the name to me now
Hilda - Magic for Marigold, L.M. Montgomery
Ilse - Emily of New Moon
Jade - nickname used in both Emily of New Moon
Jane - Jane Austen
Julian - Ender's Shadow, Orson Scott Card
Kenneth - Rilla of Ingleside, L.M. Montgomery
Leander - Magic for Marigold
Marianne - Sense and Sensibility
Marigold - Magic for Marigold
Patricia - Pat of Silver Bush
Persis - Rainbow Valley, L.M. Montgomery
Philippa - Anne of the Island, L.M. Montgomery
Reece - The Midwife's Apprentice, Karen Cushman--although in that, it was spelled Reese
Sara - A Little Princess, Frances Hogdson Burnett
Tilda - Matilda Bone, by Karen Cushman--didn't care much for the name or any variation before this
Una - Rainbow Valley
Valancy - The Blue Castle, L.M. Montgomery
Violet - "The Touch of Fate," L.M. Montgomery
Walter - Rilla of Ingleside
Xan - Children of Men, P.D. James

Heheh, I thought I remembered someone in this community being from PEI, but I couldn't remember who.

She and Austen are by far my favorite authors. I've wanted to visit the Island since I was ten, and just revel in all the Anne stuff. I can just imagine it...

Me: "I'm sorry, I'm a little lost. Can you point me in the direction of Cavendish, please?"
Cue card flashing in local's head: "TOURIST: AMERICAN."
