Pronounciation help...

Jaques? Unsure of how to say this. Thanks :)

Edit: Whoops, meant Jacques. Didn't realize the typo.

I knew a guy named this and he pronounced it Jock

It's spelled Jacques. The J is pronounced kind of like a cross between Sh and J. Like the French male name Jean if you've ever heard it pronounced out loud. So like...Jahck. Kind of. I'm not great at explaining it, but it's kind of a cross between "shock" and "Jack", haha.

I pronounce it Zjahk (which is is pretty much the same as [livejournal.com profile] th3_unicorn said already =])

lol sorta along the same lines here. you misspelled it... lol. It's Jacques (as in, Cousteau. or, if you're surrounded by little ones and are more familiar with nursery rhymes... as in "Frére Jacques")

and i've always heard it pronounced like: "Zh-ahk" Similar to the english "sh" sound but with a 'z' in place of the 's'.

If I named my son that, I would pronounce it Jah-QUEZ, too. Lol.

Something like zhock. Though I know a kid named Jacques and we call him juh-KWEES to make fun of him.
