I volunteered in my son's preschool class the other day and I got the names of all the kids his teachers, Miss Audrey and Miss Lori, teach. There are two classes of three-year-olds and one class of four-year-olds.

Names under cut... )

Siblings from church, under 10 years:

Josiah
Sailor (female, not sure about spelling)
Jasmine

Kind of an odd combo of styles. I never thought I'd like Sailor for a girl, but when she stood up in her little dress and introduced herself in a tiny voice, I instantly loved it. It suits her somehow.

Also, my friend is expecting a girl and they've decided on Eve Mariella. I think it's pretty. Not my style, but pretty. I think it would flow better if the first and middle names were switched.

Girl in McD's drivethrough: Cyrina

I asked how to pronounce it, she said "Exactly like Gossip Girl Serena".

"Evonne Derrico, 33, gave birth to three girls and two boys after carrying the babies for eight months, about four weeks longer than the national average for quints.

Deniko, Dariz, Deonee, Daician and Daiten were being cared for in the neonatal intensive care unit. Each infant weighs less than 3 pounds, but their father, Deon Derrico (duh-REE'-koh), said that all are healthy."

So I'm working on character names for my NaNoWriMo novel, and I'm running into the "I need names that sound well together but don't get confused with each other" issue. Visually, Rowena and Morgana don't look alike, but lyrically they kinda sound similar (roh-WHEN-a and more-GAHN-a is how I'm pronouncing them). Thoughts? Would it be too much for two characters that share the same space in a story?
