So I had a narcoleptic dream-while-I'm-awake dream this morning and convinced myself I was going to have a little girl one day and name her Elisabeth but I would call her Gidget....yeah like Sally Field.  I do like the nickname Gidget, but I'm not convinced Elisabeth is a good proper name for it.  Do you have any suggestions for a proper name for the nickname?

Someone I used to know also has four kids.  The parents are Josh and Chelsea and their kids are Cana, Loyal, Judah and Kaisa.  They are also trying to adopt a little boy named Donald.

Another one seen on a cbeebies birthday card: Isla-Kitty.
What a weird combination.

I've thought for a long time that I would like to name a child for my grandmother. The thing is her name is Edna Jean, which I don't like (and she doesn't really either). I'm not really fond of any "Ed" names except for maybe Edmund, but I hate Ed/Eddie. I used to think I might name a boy Eamonn James since Eamon(n) is a form of Edmund, but Eamon(n) has really lost its shine for me.

Edith has been growing on me, but I'm not crazy about the nn Edie, and I'm scared it might be mispronounced as Eddie. I've occasionally considered doing two middle names. Right now, I really like Cordelia, so today, I thought about the combination Cordelia Edith Jane. I really like it; my grandma wrinkled her nose. She almost never likes any of the names I like though and said she'd love her anyway. :P

So do you think Cordelia Edith Jane sounds good? And is it weird to use names someone doesn't like when you're naming after them? I'm not actually expecting, just thinking ahead.

Someone posted this video on facebook where a woman gets interview because she "can tell" if a child is good or bad by their name. She makes fun of parents naming their kids after a place, like Brooklyn or London, but when it gets pointed out that her daughter's name is India then that's totally different because she wasn't naming her after a place, she was giving her a lovely name for a lovely little girl.

Watch it and do share what you think. Judging parents for stupid baby names is one thing but judging children? They didn't choose their name.
