I have a friend who's super religious and his family has always given children virtue names. So my friend's name is Evan Justice Xxxxxx and his sister is Catherine Patience Xxxxxx. We were playing around with names and this is what we came up with, wdyt?

Amelia Grace
Charity Lynn
Evelyn Faith
Honoria Truth
Jonathan Mercy
Daniel Justice
Temperance Violet
Avery Zeal
Joseph/Josef Wisdom
Unity Maye

I love Amelia Grace and I've always liked that his grandmother's name was Temperance Rose O'Reilly (waaaay before Kathy Reichs came around) and kind of wanted to name a daughter Temperance.

My husband and I were watching Jeopardy last night, and during the "Get To Know The Contestants" part, one guy mentioned that he and his wife were expecting a girl. He then said that despite his wife's objections, he really wanted to name his daughter Drama or Evil "because they're unique." Thankfully, Alex said in response, "Have you thought about future relations between you and your daughter if you give her that name??"

You know, from a purely linguistic stance, Drama doesn't sound that bad. But Evil?!?!

I just ran across the name Kayra.  To me, it seems like Kayla pronounced by Scooby Doo.  Thoughts?

Look up your name rank for the year you were born at the social security administration's site: http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/ . Then, look up what your name could have been had you been born in the decades before and after your birth by finding the name at the same ranking.

Mine: 1986, Lauren Marie (14, 176)

2006: Alexis Ellie,
1996: Brittany Kirsten
1986: original
1976: Christina Kerry
1966: Deborah Evelyn
1956: Sandra Rosemary
1946: Betty Stephanie
1936: Virginia Claire
1926: Shirley Nora
1916: Florence Jeanne
1906: Frances Celia
1896: Clara Belle
1886: Grace Gladys

If I were to choose one of these names for my own, I would have to go with Virginia Claire. I think it's a great combo. Florence Jeanne is also strong, but I don't care for either name. Clara Belle is a bit too cutesy for my tastes but is also a decent combo.
The names I like sort of like are Rosemary, Betty, Virginia, Frances, and Grace.
The names I definitely like are Claire and Clara.

But wait--there's more! )

So I was playing the game and I noticed something interesting in the popularity of my sibset:
Melinda Sue (137, -) 1985
Rebecca Ann (26, 222) 1988
Zachary Anthony (12, 18) 1994

My parents have said that wouldn't have used Zachary if they had known it was so popular (he has like six in his grade and a few friends with the same name). And this is also interesting if I had been a boy I would have been Christopher, my sister would have been Brian, and my brother would have been Mallory. I guess my parents just have popular tastes when it comes to boy names.
