Which do you like better, Natalie or Natalia? What middle names go well with these names?

I can't decide if I like Natalie or Natalia better, but right now I like Natalie Jane as a first/middle name combo.

My ex-boyfriend's sister had a baby today and named her Sofiya.  I just don't understand why people need to throw the letter y in where it doesn't belong.

My cousin, Sarah, and her husband, Sam, just had their second baby. A little girl named Ava Gabrielle, who joins big sister Olivia. Olivia and Ava aren't my style, but I think they're pretty names.

How do you feel about the meanings of names? Could you not care less? Obsessed with it (as I am)? Or is it just a nice bonus if a name you like has a cool meaning?
