What do you think of the name Scarlet? I've recently fallen in love with it. Edited the name to a better spelling ;)

And what are your thoughts on this: if I ever have a daughter, I'd like to name her after my mother, whose name is Judy. Do you think instead of naming a daughter Judy, I could use Judith instead?

Thanks everyone!

How much do their names affect what you and your hubby/sig. other/whatever lol name the children that you have together? I am certain you would not name the child the same name, but are similar names out of the question? Does it matter how much/how little you see the stepchild(ren)?

I am asking because I have seen blended families where the children actually have the same names (one where the oldest boy was named Jason, and the youngest with the new wife was also named Jason, but called "Jay"), or very similar names. I wonder if those children don't see each other that much, or if the parents just loved the names so much they used them twice lol.

If a person is going to give one of their children two middle names, do you feel that this obligates them to give all of their children two middle names?

My husband and I plan to name our first boy Caleb Theodore Charles... but we don't plan to give any of our other children two middle names - just our first boy.  Part of me feels like this is strange.  What's your opinion?

A woman I work with has just become a grandmother for the first time.

A little girl named Etienne Matilde [I’m guessing at the spelling…]

Unsurprisingly, the woman I work with is French, and her son and his wife both live over there.

WDYT?

My friend Josephine (Josie) is having a little boy and is having trouble coming up with a name. She want an unusual name because she has bad associations with a lot of names. Any ideas? Last name sounds like Finns

Also, wdyt? :

Georgia Marie (Jorji)
Georgina Lorelei (Jorji/Gina)
Caitlin Sophia (Cady)
Evan Thomas (Van)
Nicholas Owen (Cole) ---- any ideas of different middle names?
Jacob Rhys (Jake)

So a girl I'm friends with is having a baby boy in May.
I found out today that the name she's planning to use is Kai Anthony.

Does your opinion of a name change if there is a "reason" behind it? Like if you hated the name Madison, and then found out her maternal grandmother's last name had been Madison, would you judge it less harshly? Do you have an examples of this happening?

What are your thoughts on Nessa as a name. I currently use it as a nickname for my niece Vanessa but I wonder if it could hold up on it's own as a name (just curious seeing as my brother used Vanessa and I am in the habit of calling her Nessa =p)

some random names I came across
Tristanne (in her 30's?)
Renaude (g, 22)
Lavern (m, 50's)
Kadeeja (5, not sure of spelling)
Tatiana (3) but not pronounced the normal way, more like TATI-ana, lots of emphasis on beginning
Verlina Rayne (baby)

ETA: WDYT of Raina? as a middle name.
