I think about names so much that the ones I love lose their appeal a little, and I can't think of a single name I LOVE at the moment.

:(
[identity profile] biancasablancas.livejournal.com
I've tried on all the obvious ones (Rose, Grace, Claire, June, etc).

1) Middle name suggestions for Adeline ('line' prn like clothesline ha)

2) Opinions on Carmen? I attended a funeral today for one of the most beautiful women I have ever known called Carmel, but I prefer Carmen. I love the opera, and I love the fact that it has the sound "calm" in it. It's just a smooth name IMO.

Merci!

So I figured I would post my name list, it's been a while, and I have a bunch of new names added.

TOYS
The kids I babysit (Sophie May and Ashley Joseph for the record) have a cute dog toy called Caesar. The kids are pretty worldly and have lived all over Europe and apparently came up with the name themselves, which is cool.
On second thoughts, their second favourite toy is called Rainbow Doggy :P
When I was small I had a bear I named Baxter and a bigger bear called Boris, and a dolphin statue I called Dolphy. Pretty clear-cut names.

PETS
I also named my dog Zac (short for Zachary Blue) as a tribute to my favourite band at that time (Hanson ha. C'mon, I was ten. I didn't even like Zac Hanson. Taylor all the way!)
And going back even further, we had a peacock called Bert, a brown hamster called Blacky and a white hamster called Goldy, Rastus the rooster and fish called Oliver and Cedric.

What did you call your toys and/or pets?

There's a pretty good looking doctor with the first name Judson. I think it's kind of a cute name, but I wouldn't use it, personally.

WDYT?

I've been subbing at the same school all week.

Some interesting names and my thoughts:
Mi Amor -- W T F; sweet girl, though.
Anjelique-- I wanted to cry. May as will have named her Uniqua. For a second I though "Oh, they spelled it with a J to make 'angel'. Oh wait.. :P. This name is wreaking havoc with my grammatical fanaticism. Must.. not.. defy.. laws.. of.. grammar (except for punctuation, teehee).
Bill-- a name I don't usually like, but rarely see the nn on a little boy.. I loved it, quite adorable.
Leo is also becoming an increasingly popular name. I'm betting money if my friend has as second son, she'll name him Leonid 'Leo' after her father (sibset already Vlad and Katerina).

Earlier today, while searching for the phone number of my daughter's cemetery, I came across a list of the names of everyone else who's been buried there. There are some interesting names, especially from the turn of the last century. Here are some of my favorites and a few a found odd or interesting; all first names or first name/middle names, with the exception of a few, I included no last names:

The good:
Wilhemina 'Dicke'-- I am assuming Dicke is pron. Dickie. OMG, cute! I've always like this name, but such a cute nickname. Perhaps making the list (is that creepy?), but maybe not if FSIL uses Georgina 'Georgie' for a daughter.

The bad
Moosa(f)
Mignon(m)
Viller MAe
Lockwood LeGrande
Weltha
Antonionette
Full name-- Alpha Loreta Hard Casebeer

The interesting:
Elsworth
Otha
Melba

In response to a small in-news interview I saw on TV earlier this evening:

How would you pronounce the name Tobias?

I always thought it was Toe-BY-us, but this guy on the TV introduced the other guy as TOE-bee-us.

How do you pronounce it?  Is there a right or wrong way, or are both acceptable?  Is there any other way of pronouncing it?
