After considering the pros and cons of the name Arabella, we have decided against it. It wouldn't be a cute name for an adult woman and I hate "Bella" or "Belle" which the child would more than likely be called.

How do you feel about the name Felicity?

Also, I find it amusing (I am not offended) by how everyone reacted to my name "Rohen" and how presise I was on the pronouncation and spelling. My original longing was to pronounce it "Rohan", but everyone kept on saying "Ro-hAn" when saying it. Or I got "row-win" like the spelling Rowan. I want more of a "Ro-in". Everyone told me to spell it "Rohen" and pronounce it to sound like hen. When I say it aloud, it sounds perfect... when I try to explain it... it's a mess.

what is some modern names that you all like?
i'm currently pregnant, and am getting a list of baby names, I really, really dislike plain old fashioned names like james, john, thomas etc, I'm looking for funky names that aren't necessarily unheard of, but not all that common?

I wrote about this a month ago and was really hoping they'd come around, but alas my dad's coworker gave birth to her baby boy last Wednesday and she and her husband named him...

Collin Logan Jackson

(Jackson is the last name)

Each name alone is all right, but together there are just too many "in" sounds. =\ Oh well. He sure is adorable though!

Today's: Degrassi, Felicity, & The Fairly Odd Parents

Note: I have never seen an episode of any of these, so I went with imdb.com's data on how many episodes the characters have been in to pick the main ones. I had to go back to a character who had only been in two or three episodes to get enough names for the Fairly Odd Parents, so if you watch the show and have no idea who the person is, that's why.

For those of you who are just simply interested in why & what certain people name their children, I'd suggest reading this: Chapter Six "Would a Roshanda by Any Other Name Smell as Sweet" of Freakonomics by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner.

It discusses why there are trends in certain names like Madison and Emma. I don't want to say anything specifically what the data said about what names were most common among low income/education and high income/education families since I know people would probably be offended.

I will leave you with the author's prediction of what could be Most Popular Names of 2015 )
