So, after waiting for freaking EVER, we're finally sorta TTC (yay!) We've had our names picked out for about a year now, we're all set for a girl, but all of a sudden I kind of fell out of love with our boy pick;

Tristan Calvin...

Calvin is a must, it's my SO's late grandfather, so it stays. I'm just not as excited about Tristan as I used to be...especially with this new trend of people choosing it for their girls for some crazy reason. And now of course I don't like ANYTHING else we think of. I feel sort of luke-warm about Gavin..but not loving it. I tend to favor Irish-type names (or even ones that just kinda sound it), anyone have any suggestions? I don't like super-popular names (so Aiden is out), and I don't like Declan. Also can't use Liam because it's my son's middle name. I know we have plenty of time, considering we don't even have an embryo to name yet (maybe soon though!), but it's fun to choose/discuss nonetheless!

So yeah..any Irish/Scottish/Old English-sounding boy name suggestions? Last name will be Anderson. Thanks in advance :)

A newborn at the local hospital was just named Kal-El. I like superman, but what were his parents thinking?!

Buffy and B.R. (Bobby Ray) have 2 kids, Dylan and Simon, and one on the way: Raley Evangelise. I assume it's pronounced Ray-lee

I don't know Dylan or Simon's middle names. They are from Oklahoma. I love Dylan and Simon. NOT into Raley.

*sad side note* Raley may only have one kidney. :(

1.) Out of these combos, which do you like?

Conley Jabe
Conley Isaac
Conley Ian
Conley Owen
Isaac Conley
Ian Conley
Owen Conley
Isaac Owen
Elijah Malachi
Elijah Aaron
Elijah Isaac
Titus Aaron
Titus Isaac
Titus Ian

2.) Are there any other combos from these names that you like, or what other middle names would you suggest for Conley, Ian, Isaac, Owen, Elijah or Titus?

A girl I met recently: Chalice.

Like the cup. And the other children in the family have really ordinary names.

I think it sounds pretty, but the fact that it's a cup really turns me off from it. A cup.

Opinions?

We may have decided on a name for poor ol' Zyggie the Zygote, who is now about 8 inches long and weighs a pound! She had the hiccups on Saturday, and my husband Ken got to feel her a few times. His eyes got huge!

Adeline Louisa

Honest opinions please, especially from those either expecting or with children. Both names are family names; the Louisa comes from three generations on my mom's side, including my dear great-grandmother, Hazel Louisa, and my grandmother, Betty Louise.

I'm afraid that the name is too trendy or at least too close to trendy names like Madeline and Addison. I also want to avoid nicknames for as long as possible. While I love Addy and Ada, again, they sound too trendy for me. Ken really likes this name, and he's already referring to her as Adeline while I'm stuck on "it" and "Zyggie"! Also, if/when we decide on a name, when and how should we tell our families and other people? I've been advised not to tell until she is here, but I don't think I can physically do that! We're due December 24.

My better half & I are planning to have a bun in the oven within the year, if it's a boy, we're dead set on the name Ernest Liam. Ernest because it's a family name, our son would be the fifth! But, he's going to go by Liam.

This is where I'm stuck...
If we have a girl, I really love the names Erin & Bailey... I really want the middle name to be Nicole, for two reasons. 1, I really love the name, & 2, it's his little sister's name, who I've become extremely close to.
So what I'm asking is,

In your opinion, which is better? ...

Bailey Nicole Carmichael
Or
Erin Nicole Carmichael

Thanks you guys, xo.
Much love,

Just strolled through the local hospital's Web Nursery, and found...

Not PG or TTC; just like names and planning ahead.
Have arranged these in the order I'd be most likely to use them. Rather hoping it's not necessary to point out which are the girls or boys names. :)

Cut to spare your f-lists )

So WDYT? (be honest, I can take concrit)
Any suggestions for names of similiar styles I might like? (my long list is getting a bit stale)

Oh and what do you think of Seren [sair-un]?
It's my 'name of the day'. I like the meaning 'star' and that it's Welsh.

I found another sibset of somewhat weird names. Not weird, so much, as just very Hollywood.

Sister: Novalee Geneva
Brother: Pacey Thomas

Where The Heart Is and Dawson's Creek much? Who knows! What do you think? I kind of like Pacey in the way that I would never ever use it, but it's alright. And Pacey Thomas works well, I think. I'm not a huge fan of Novalee Geneva, together or separate, but that's just not my cup of tea.

I also found a sibset of five siblings: Kylie, Kelsey, Khloe, Kensley (sisters), and Kohl (brother). I am not really a fan of the same letter names or the close spelling of Kohl and Khloe or Kelsey and Kensley. And Kensley isn't on babynames.com or behindthename.com, and I've never heard of it before, so I was curious about it's origin. *shrugs*

Just thought I'd share.

One name site has a list of spooky names.

Is there really anyone out there that would seriously consider naming their child "Beelzebub"? Or "Banshee"?

"Banshee! How many times do I have to tell you to stop that screaming?!" LMAO

Name Poll

When I think of the names listed below, I instantly think of a gender that I associate with that name. What about the rest of you? When you hear these names, do you see them as more appropriate for a male or for a female?

So, who has heard of the Italian designer Luisa Beccaria?

Her husband is Lucio

And their children are, from oldest to youngest,

Lucilla
Lucrezia
Ludovico
Luna
Luchino

I think all of the names are nice individually, but with all those Ls, it's a bit much!
[identity profile] monalyssasmile.livejournal.com
Do you have any middle name suggestions for these names? I want unique middle names because all I can think of are Elisabeth Mae and Catherine for girls and Manning for boys (although I need to use the middle name Manning for at least one of my children).

Here are the names:

Boys: Deacon, Thatcher, Adam, Atticus, Oliver, Ryder, Caleb, Porter

Girls: Louisa, Lena, Lily, Zoe, Tessa, Briar, Julia

ETA: I took off the names Kaiis and Demetrius because I liked the name Nicolai for them. Also can you think of a FN from the list of girls I have, that would sound good with Carys?
[identity profile] soleilshine.livejournal.com
Since all of you have said Erin instead of Bailey, just out of curiousity.. is there a first name that you think better suits the middle name Nicole? I'd be really interested to know. =)

Thanks!

What do you all think of Camellia? I don't know if I'd use it, but I think it's a cute flower-name alternative to Lily, Rose and Daisy.

Not pregnant or TTC, but what do you think of:
(Note: Not all of these are ones I "like", they're just names from songs by my favorite musicians)

I was watching a show on HGTV a few nights ago. The name of the host? Gaard

I just thought I'd share this sentence that I came across in a journal article I was reading, which has some interesting names. It was just about gifted and talented students throughout history...

"The renowned theologian Cotton Mather had graduated from Harvard College at age 15. His distinguished father, Increase Mather, had graduated at 17."

I thought you all would get a kick out of this site.

Someone compiled a bunch of names that have been used in Utah. If you're for strange names this is the place to go!
