oddsod.livejournal.com'Ello! I just joined. My name is Jessica Renée. I'm 17. Not pregnant and won't be until I'm married, but I already have names picked out for my kids. I want eight kids: six girls and two boys. I grew up very closely to my grandparents and great-aunts and such, with names like Gail, Geraldine, Olivia, Agnes, so those are the sorts of names I prefer. These new names like Kaylee, Brayden, Trinity, and Destiny just rub me the wrong way (no offense to anyone who uses these!). I also like names from the Bible and Book of Mormon, such as Zephaniah, Isaiah, Nehemiah, Jarom (not juh-ROME, but j-air-um), Teancum, Delilah, etc. as well as Slavic names like Svetlana (girl) or Gavrie (boy). Anywho, here are the names I have picked out, with explanations.
Girls.
Ophelia Agatha, Xanthia which my cousin claims "sounds like a disease".
Cecilia Renée (I like my middle name, in addition to the Simon and Garfunkel song "Cecilia").
Eulalia (in the lower 1000s on the popularity chart in 1910) Lucille. It originally was going to be Evelyn Lucille, but Evelyn has gotten hugely popular and I don't want my kids to have to be "Evelyn with Brown Hair #6", or "Charles Isaiah S. with green eyes #3" in class (I was Tall Jessica S #2).
Clara Beau. Get it? Clara Beau? Instead of Bow?
Nora Sybil. My old best friend's name was Nora, and even though I nearly hate her now, I still think Nora is a nice name. And the story of Sybil Dorsett is one of my interests. Jane.
Vada Sophronia. Ever see the movie "My Girl"? I've been in love with the name Vada since I first saw that when I was about seven. Sophronia is my great-grandmother's middle name.
Boys.
Charles Isaiah. Charles after Charlie Chaplin and Charles Dickens (plus it just sounds nice). Isaiah, as stated earlier, is one of my favourite Biblical names.
Theodore Timothy. After my favourite President, Teddy Roosevelt. Timothty, after my dad (it's actually Mark Timothy, but for some unknown reason, all the kids on my dad's side go by their middle names).
Other names I like: Edith, Helen, Victoria, Octavia, Desdemona, William, Margaret, Penelope, Bridget, Leah, Hannah, Arabella (might interest those of you who want to jump on the "-ella" bandwagon), Keith, Philip, Alice, Anita, Olivia & Olive, Prudence, and Holly.
Edit: Just thought of two more: Xanthia for girls, and Lysander for boys.
