[identity profile] serendipitous13.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
My boyfriend and I aren't having kids until we're married, but we've already started fighting about boys' names.
He can't think of any names he LIKES. He told me that he likes "X" sounds in names though.
So far I've thought of (and by no means would I name my kid most of these):

Axel
Dexter
Rex
Dax(ton)
Dixon

(Xavier is out becasue that's my nephew's name and Alex is out becasue that's my step-brother's name.)

Can anyone think of anymore male names that have an "x" sound?

maddox
lennox (i like it)
Maxwell/Max

I second Max - a nice name, not too trendy. I know someone who named her son Jackson but they called him Jax for short.

I don't think Xander or even Xavier are the best options because many people pronounce those names like they start with Z instead of X - zander, zavier.

I personally don't like Braxton or Daxton but that's mostly because I don't like the x sound bumped against 'ton' - just not a fan.

Felix was my top choice for a boy for a long time. I think it's so spunky.

I know you sais Alex was out, but you could either name a boy Alexander and call him Xander, or just name him Xander (but the X sounds like a Z in either case, so I don't know if that would work...but it IS an X, LOL).

What's with your icon?? I'm glad I can't really tell what it is supposed to be, but it definitely looks inappropriate for a baby names community and says something about your maturity. One of your other two icons would have been more appropriate to use here I think, but you're 16.

Hey, as queen_exene, it's a free "lj-country". I don't want to start any drama here.

There's nothing in the rules about who can have what Icon, because frankly, who gives a shit? it's an Icon, don't like it, don't look. I don't appreciate you trying to start drama in my community.

I wasn't trying to start drama, I was just saying that I didn't think it was appropriate for this community. I guess if you don't have a rule in your community about it, then that's fine. It just didn't seem appropriate to me, it looked sexually explicit and there are members under the age of 18 and it's a "fluffy, baby, pink and blue" type of cummunity, so that's the only reason I said something.

I apologize for stepping on some toes, but it just rubbed me the wrong way in a community with a topic surrounding children.

Exxon sounds way too much like a gas station to me :)

LOL, yeah, I don't highly recommend it either. Exxon is my friend's half-brother's name.

I really like Daxton :)

Daxton is awesome. Dax itself is just awesome.

I saw the name Jaxson once. It was a girl's name, too. Looks like it could go either way.

I know a Laxton. For some reason, Laxton sounds really collegiate to me, like it should have "university" on the end of it... ????

On Varsity Blues the guy's last name name was Moxon and they called him Mox.

Laxton sounds like a brand of laxative to me.

Hehe, I have to agree. I don't like Exxon either, it's a major chain of gas staions down here in the south. I'd be afraid the kid would come out smelling dirty :P

I definitely recommend Max =) My nephew's name is Max Andrew and I think it's adorable. If it wasn't already taken, my fiance & I would be using it!
