[identity profile] peytonlee.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
About 12 weeks ago i was still questioning what i was going to name my baby girl. I tossed around a few different names, and then didn't think twice about most of them. BUT, I finally chose a name and it was OK'd by my baby's father.

Adelynn Marie nn Addy.

Adelynn because i love the nickname Addy, and i think Adelynn would make a strong name for her when she gets older and grows out of the nickname stage, and Marie because my I would like her to have her grandmother's middle name like i have my grandmother's middle name.

What do you guys think?

I like the sound of it, but I'm not really a fan of the spelling of Adelynn. What about Adeline? It's only slightly different, but much more sophisticated, and it isn't going to fit into the whole name+lynn trend of late.

Adeline definitely lookes like Ad-e-LINE to me... like you said...
just like Madeline. To me that is a totally different name.

They're different names to me, also.

Oh, I know. That's what I was suggesting. Using Adeline with that pronunciation instead. Adelynn looks made-up and like the other name+lynn names that are so popular all of a sudden.

what about Adelin, then? I also don't like the -lynn suffix that's going around these days...

I prefer Adeline. Adelynn looks too made up.

IAWTC, and I don't like the name + Lynn trend either!

I like the sound of it, but the spelling not so much. It looks too busy. I think even dropping an n and making it Adelyn would look nicer.

I like the sound of it but not the spelling... I would go for Adelyn. But nevertheless, I think it's pretty :)

i agree that Adeline and Adelyn/Adelynn are different names lol. they are to me, too... not TOTALLY different, but definitely different pronunciations. Adeline = Ad-eh-line, Adelynn = Ad-eh-lynn. the Adelynn spelling leaves little room for error in pronunciation.

btw, i really like it! i like either Adelyn or Adelynn, and i love the nickname Addy.

I love Addy, I'm not a big fan of Adelynn but you are right it's a good strong name.
And Adelynn Marie flows really well.

It seems a little too confined to these couple of years for me, but if you like it, hey. It will certainly be socially acceptable among her peers, many of whom will have names with similar or the same sounds, but put together differently.
