Jan. 18th, 2008 07:11 pmI officially hate names. I hate having to name a child. I am having the most horrible time trying to find a name for my daughter. She's not due for 3 more months but, while she keeps growing and kicking away inside of me, I'm not making any progress with her name. Ever since I found out that I'm having a girl (on Christmas eve), every spare moment has been spent going through A-Z on various baby name websites, to no avail. I have managed to come up with two first names, neither of which am I OMG in love with. I come across many names that I like but none of which I would ever use.
My list consists of Quinn and Stella and, honestly, I don't even know how I feel about those names, nor do I have middle name ideas for either. Help? - with first or middle names. The last name is Trenholm.
I'm so close to throwing in the towel and just letting her pick her own name. For real.

Date: 2008-01-18 11:52 pm (UTC)It's okay not to be omigod-in-love with a name if names aren't your thing. There's time yet for one to jump out at you, but don't worry too much if one doesn't--just go with one you like.
Maybe you could choose a middle name based on someone you admire, whether it's a family member or friend, or someone famous (author, historical figure, fictional character, whatever). For example, I'm planning to use Elsie as a middle name after my grandmother, if I have a girl. I like several names from Arthurian legend for each gender, like Gavin, Tristan, Guinevere, and Iseult--I might use one of those as a first name. Maybe if you share some of your favorite things and people, we could come up with some similar or variant names.
