I'm actually a Bethany who goes by Beth. Bethany has grown on me over the years, but it seems really baby-ish to me and not at all professional or grown-up, and Beth seems really plain to me.
I've seen Bethan before, and I don't know how to pronounce it, but as a Bethany it looks really incomplete without the 'y'; similarly, with Betha, it looks like a typo. Bethari and Bethwyn look rather made up to me, and Bethesda makes me think of the city/town in Maryland outside of DC. Bethania is pretty cool; I'm pretty sure it's the Spanish form of Bethany, so I'd guess it would be pronounced beh-TAHN-ya.
