My son's name is Adrian Daniel.
Almost everytime I tell someone his name, they're like "Oh that's nice... Aiden, right?" And it's really irritating because I hatehatehate the -ayden trend.
But more on point, does anyone have nickname suggestions, besides Ian or Danny?

EDIT: I guess I should add the nickname that's kind of evolved for him is "Keiler", because when he was first born, he'd snort when he was hungry, and a keiler is a kind of hog in German (we live in Germany), but I'm afraid continuing to call him that into adulthood may give him some sort of complex. Ha.

I was going to say the same thing! My best friend's name is Adrienne, and she signs her name "Ade".

I don't think Adrian needs a nick name. Ian or Rian are the only feasible ones I see, other then something stupid like Addy or Aid, but both those are just feeding into the Aiden assumption.

I knew a female Adrienne (not sure how she spelled it) who went by Adge. It kind of sounded like "H" when people said it. Not my style but it worked for her.

I know a guy who's nickname is H because he went by Chris H for his whole school life. So I could see Adge working. lol.

Drew or Ryan? Maybe a bit of a stretch, but they could work.

Ok, firstly. That's a very pretty name. *nods*

Secondly, what the hell? People assume that Adrian is Aiden? They're stupid and need to listen better. Hah.

I don't necessarily think that Adrian needs a nickname to it. I find that with my boys - they aren't nicknamed off of their names, but rather their attitudes and personalities. For example - my youngest son is a 'squeaker' or 'duckie' because when he eats he sounds like a rubbery duckie toy. *giggles* My eldest son is more flexible than more adults I know and he like to pick things up with his feet. Thusly the nickname 'monkey' evolved. I think it really depends on watching your son grow and deciding what nickname suits him best from there.

Adrian is such a nice name, it would be a shame to break it down to something smaller and less appealing.

I'd say Ade, but if you already hate people thinking he's called Aiden, this might not be such a good idea.

PS. Adrian is a much nicer name than Aiden anyway.

I love the name Adrian, and that's such a great name:)

I can't really think of any nicknames for it. My friend Adrienne sometimes gets called Ace, and I guess I could see it working, but it's more of an inside joke than anything else.

i have a friend Adrian who also goes by Adge (like 'badge' without the 'b'; rather than like 'cage' without the 'c')

i agree Adrian is a lovely name and i'm sorry ppl are so used to the aiden/caiden/braden annoying-as-hell trend that they hear that rather than his name.

and hey, if he outgrows his nickname good, if not, it'll be a family nickname. lol.

in my family when i was growing up, my nn was 'Desert Storm Legs' - thanks daddy! lol, b/c i was accident prone and slightly pigeon-toed as a youngster, so i was CONSTANTLY falling down and had a neverending supply of cuts/scrapes/bruises/scars/scabs on my legs. so he jokingly said his pretty little girl, from the waist down, looked like she had just stepped out of the Desert Storm War. *shrug* i don't have a complex it was funny and true. i outgrew it all, legs healed up, and the NN stopped. :) so don't worry about it.

I like the Adge suggestion. Plus that sounds far from Aiden.

Every Adrian I've known has gone by Ade or Adey.

I knew an Adrian growing up and he was Ady (Ay-dee). He is now 30+ and he is still Ady (He's barely ever Adrian).
