Do you prefer the name Christina or Christine? I love both and am having a hard time deciding between them... hmm...

Also, what do you all think about the name Oscar? (For a boy, of course ;) )

I like Christina more, but I'm not particularly fond of the name period, and I hate the nn Tina. I like Chris though.

Oscar is ok, but it reminds me of the grouch and of an Our Lady Peace song. It's too harsh for my taste.

Oscar is alright, but not really my style =).

Hm. Actually, both Christine and Christina are very good names. Though I much more prefer Christine.

Oscar is also a nice name for a guy, though I'm not quite find of that name. XD

I like Christine AND Christina! I don't know which I like more. Do you have a middle name you particularly like?

Oscar is an okay name, but I have too many strong associations with it to use it on a child.

I like both. The name that I hear all the time now is Christiane (which is actually pronounced Christy-on-ah), and I love it.

I like Christina. Christine sounds a little dated.

I love Oscar and it would be on my list for boy names, except that it was the name of my cat. But I think it would work very well on a person.

Neither Christina nor Christine are really my style, but I prefer Christina.

Oscar, I like.

I like them both, to be honest.

They are both timeless and classic and definately female. I think that if you're holding back because of nicknames or possible shortenings - I could point out that either of them can be shortened to Christi - as opposed to Chris, or Tina. You could also shorten with something like Chrissy. Just a few suggestions. If I HAD to choose between them - I would choose Christina.

Also - I love the name Oscar. I don't think it's used often enough.

I like Christine more. Christina is an 80's name to me.
I like Oscar a lot though! I have it on my middle-name list. I would have it on my first name list, but its so close to Oliver, my favorite name.

Christina. I think it's much prettier, and Christine always makes me think of the 80s for some reason, haha.

I LOVE Oscar! It's very cute:)

I prefer Christina, because Christine sounds a bit middle-aged to me. However, Christina does make me think of the piercing by that name...

Oscar is my cousin's name. I like it, although I do think of Oscar the Grouch.

I prefer Christina.
My close friend's name is Kristina and she doesn't get called Tina or Kris, but she used to get called Stina, which was different (and good coz my name is Martyna with occassionally the nickname Tina!)

I prefer Christina - probably because that's my name.
The only problem is that people are constantly calling me Christine. Sometimes I even get called Kristen or Catherine.

I love the name Oscar, but my husband said NO. It reminds him too much of The Grouch and the baby from Ghostbusters II.

I like Christine. I think she would be less likely to be called Tina that way. I have an aunt and a friend with the name and they have never been called anything but Christine because they refuse to answer to any of the obvious NNs. Just call her Christine and everyone else will too. :)

I love both Christina and Christine, but I think I would go with Christine. I may be biased, though, as one of my closest friends since childhood is named Christine.

I'm not much for Oscar. I always think of Bill Murray talking to the baby in Ghostbusters II: "Named after a hot dog, you poor man, you poor, poor man." It makes me think of hot dogs, too, and I hate them so much that I really dislike this name.

I'm perusing the archive, and came across this thread. Probably you don't even want any answers now, and this question is long and passed lol, but I just wanted to say that I love Christina! It's my sister's name, and I think it's gorgeous. My parents were also debating between Christina and Christine, and they left the decision up to me. I chose Christina. :)

Her name is Christina Florence.
