Jan. 13th, 2008 02:53 amI have a couple of questions. Number 1, what are some possible real names for the nickname Byrdie / Birdie (girl)? I quite like that name but don't have a real name for it. Number 2, what do you think of these names that I liked from my new baby names book? The *ed ones are ones I don't like but saw in the book.
Asael (b)
Azizi (I like it on a girl, but it is technically a boy's name)
Israel
Klara / Clara (said Clawr-ruh)
Nicola
Mattias
Nicoletta
Esme
Byrdie
Gus
Kansas (g)
Abram
Imogen (im-oh-gin)
Poppy
Shiloh
Cricket (only for an animal though)
Aiken (b)
*Accalia (g)
Adela (uh-day-luh)
And Acklyn I kinda made up, what do you think of that? I couldn't think of what name it reminded me of then I realized it wa Jacqueline that it reminded me of.

Date: 2008-01-14 03:57 pm (UTC)Esme, Adela, and Imogen are pretty. I like a lot of place names, kind of as a guilty pleasure (although Georgia, I unabashedly love), if they connote something I remember fondly, so I love Kansas (I was born there). I hear the word and I have all these nice images in my mind, but I can't see actually giving a child that name. Plus, if someone started singing "Dust in the Wind" at my little girl, I'd probably just want to kick them in the face.
I don't really like Acklyn, as the hacking sound to it stands out too much for me.
In addition to the above suggestions, I've also seen Birdie as a nickname for Roberta and Elizabeth. And Alberta seems like it would fit, as well.

Date: 2008-01-14 07:34 pm (UTC)As for the list, I like Nicola, Imogen, and Aiken. Acklyn does sound made-up, and I'm not keen on -lyn names in general, so I'm thumbs down on it. Interesting list, though!
