south asian name-- pronounced MAAR-YAH
Originally it's supposed to be spelled Maria
But of course in English that's pronounced completely differently
I had a friend who had her name spelled Maria and by the time she got married she had it changed to Maariya.
I intend to use the name Marya for my daughter-- if I ever have one =]
Any middle name suggestions?

And my brother and his wife are letting me get naming rights if they have a child. I said I would only name it if it was a boy. My favorite option is Faizan [fay-zaan] Muhammad Alam [aah-luhm]

WDYT?

Yes, I love it. Her mastery over language is pretty awesome to me.

Saying that Marya is from South Asia is like saying that Danielle is a European name - can you be more specific about its origins? Is it from Indonesia/Malaysia, is it from India/Sri Lanka or is it from Iran/Iraq? Then I'd know better how it is pronounced, and what its possible etymology would be.
