thought I'd post my family

My Brother: Muhammad Umair Alam [aah-luhm]
My Sister-in-law: Fatima Khalid

My Sister: Mahwish [meh-Vish] Alam [aah-luhm]
My brother-in-law: Mateen Fazal [fuz-l]

Me: Benish [bee-nish] Alam [aah-luhm]

Personally I hate mine and my sister's names rhyming, but i never call her by her name anyways so it doesnt affect me. I sincerely hope that when my sister and her husband have kids they will not all name them starting with 'm'.

I got made fun of for my name pretty much my whole life. In grade school it was 'beany, or beany baby' and once even 'mercedes benz'. then in highschool it was 'penis'

Personally I love my name, always have and always will; it has a wonderful meaning. In arabic it means Intelligent and in Farsi it means someone who can see past anything fake and see the truth.
I ignore the making-fun. I actually pitied kids who obviously couldnt see that my name was more unique than 'tim' or 'stacy' [no offense to any tims or stacys on here]

I agree with an above poster, I think Beany's a cute nickname, too. One of my friends calls me Beanie sometimes and I like it. But! I can see how anything said derisively wouldn't be considered exactly "cute."

I think they are very lovely names. They just seem unusual because they are so different. But that is what makes them special. I think that as long as you love your name then that is all that matters. Especially since it has such a special meaning for your family and yourself.
