[identity profile] fatallyxyoursx3.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Aright, so my boyfriend Eric and I had our baby's name picked out. We both really liked it and everything. But the other day we were talking and we think that we should think of a different first name because of the initials he'll have...BJA. We don't want him to get teased at school because of the whole BJ thing. Even though we might end up giving him a different name once he's actually born, we want to be prepared and have his name picked out.

I know I've asked this question before, but I'm going to ask again. Sorry for being repetitive. Do you any of you have any suggestions for a first name to go with the rest of his name?? _________ James Adams.

Thanks

Agreed. I grew up with a BJ who was an absolute sweetheart. When we hit high school, a few of the morons kept mentioning the BJ thing, but most people made a joke when they met him, then let it drop. Even the ones that kept bringing it up were doing it in a friendly (though stupid) manner; no one did it to really hassle him.

Are you planning on calling him BJ? If not, I don't think it'll be a huge deal. Many kids don't even know one another's middle names. If your last name was a J-word it might be a big deal because kids would know the BJ initial thing there but honestly, I don't think you have much to worry about.

Let's be honest, does anyone actually know anyone who calls a blow job a BJ? Its a stupid kids invention and bottom line, you're only a kid for 18 years (and for at least half of that you're too young to know what a blow job is) and then you grow up and have another 70 years to bear the name that your parents loved. Go with what you love.

I agree with the person above, first and middle name initials aren't used very often at all. I know a guy who goes by BJ and I don't think he has too many problems or else he wouldn't go by that! Go with your firt choice name.

What is the first name, if you don't mind sharing.

I like Tyler James Adams. Then it could be T.J. I also really like the name Christian. My baby boy name is Christian Alexander.

If you really like the name, use it. If you don't plan to call the kid BJ then he most likely won't be called BJ unless he wants to be called that. I had a friend who prefered going by BJ because his real name was Bobby Joe (I'm not even kidding).

I mean, we had fun with it. On Academic Bowl trips we'd make signs and stick them in the windows saying "Honk if you like BJs!" and then he'd wave to the people who honked.

Our son's initials were going to spell out H.O.E.S., but we changed the order of the middle names so it will spell out H.E.O.S.
Hopefully that won't be too bad for him.

But still, as the user above me said, if you really like the name, use it.

Okay... I'm in Australia, which might be why I'm not getting the connection here... what's up with BJ? What does it mean?

And I agree with some of the other posters - most of the kids he'll go to school with won't know his middle name, and chances are, if they do, they won't actually make that connection... whatever it is...
