"Old Lady Names"
Dec. 8th, 2005 05:50 amPeople keep telling me that my taste in names is all old lady (which I think is far better than sounding like a <insert racial stereo-type>)
My 3 girl name picks are Eva, Charlotte and Lucy. All of which I feel are great normal names that I would be proud to have and yell from my balcony at dinner time.
thoughts?

Date: 2005-12-07 12:04 pm (UTC)I think those are all lovely names, not really "old lady" tho. "Old lady" names to me are things like Ruth, Gladys, and Edith.
Eva makes me think of Eva Longoria (the actress from desperate housewives) and she's young and gorgeous (she also was on Maxim's hot 100 hehe).
Charlotte makes me think of someone sweet and innocent.
Not a huge fan of Lucy, but you don't hear it much anymore (although my friend just named her puppy that after "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" {her other dog is Abby as in Abbey Road} lol)

Date: 2005-12-07 12:25 pm (UTC)I think they are in that category of old lady names that are classic beauties... not like esther and eunice.

Date: 2005-12-09 11:51 am (UTC)Lucy does sound a little old fashioned to me, but I know that a lot of new kids are being named it now, it just hasn't gotten popular in my neck of the woods yet (people the pop into my mind are: the peanuts character, Lucretia MacEvil, the youngest sister in The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, and a bunch of peoples pet dogs)
Eva/Ava already has become popular in my neck of the woods...too many of them around here for me to think of it as anything but a trendy name.
