We found out that we are having a girl last week, and have narrowed it down to two names:

Abigail Elizabeth (nn Abbie) or Harper Elizabeth

The Elizabeth stays, because it's my mother's name AND my best friend's name. My two-year-old son's name is Jackson Elliot (nn Jack). If you want to suggest other first names that go well with Jackson and the middle name Elizabeth, feel free.

Harper makes me think of Stephen Harper, the Canadian Prime Minister. Definitely NOT a name I'd give a child.

That's exactly what Harper makes me think of as well. Not a good connection. Plus, it's yet another medieval occupation/surname, and this time on a girl, which makes it even worse. I would definitely go with Abigail, no question.

I love Harper especially with Elizabeth. It's unique but also classic.

I really don't like Harper. I hope you choose Abigail :)

Harper's a surname meaning "Person who plays the harp". The only female namesake I've ever heard of is Harper Lee, whose first name wasn't even Harper.

Abigail is a lovely woman's name with many great namesakes, including the beautiful and intelligent wife of King David, and means "Father is rejoicing".

No contest.

I thought a person who played the Harp was a Harpist?

At any rate I also likw Abigail better.

They're both beautiful names. I'd pick Abigail because it is my favourite name but the funny thing is that my sister wants to call her daughter Harper. So I culd end up having both an Abigail and a Harper in the family (neither of us is pregnant)!

I really really love Abigail Elizabeth.

Random comment that might or might not mean anything to you, a male friend of mine recently announced that he finds the name Abby very sexy.

Do with that what you will.
